And so it begins.... Andrea
The first named storm of the year. A bit early, as well..
Looks like the north eastern coastal areas of Florida need to be on the lookout. Just a tropical storm, but still......

The storm is more of a hybrid system than a true tropical system.
But i'm sure this season will be more active, i just wonder then our time is up on the Pasco coast.

we need one of those fizzle out rain makers to come through here and give us some relief!
It has been soooooooooooooooo smoky here this week. No fires in Tampa but the wind has been bringing the smoke and ash to us from N Florida and Ga. Supposed to get it again tomorrow. It was so smoky here on Tuesday at 10am the air was literally brown outside my office.

The forecast in this area is calling for 40 percent chance of rain Saturday thru Friday. Yeah, it's been pretty dry around here as well. But that is pretty typical for May, apparently.

We just dont get the rain like we did in the 70's! Winter in the Tampa area has been very dry for last nine years.

What makes the dry so bad is when some numbskull will drive down the road and flick out a cigarette, touching off a blaze, destroying thousands of acres of forest, possibly homes, and maybe even killing someone. There really should be some SEVERE penalties for someone doing something boneheaded like that. Death by fire ants, maybe.......

When did they start naming sub-tropical storms? What's next naming thunderstorms?

Probably just another gimmick by the weather channel to try to get people excited about weather events. I do wish they would just report the weather and stop acting like sports announcers trying to drum up apprehension about things. Certainly their advertising picks up doing tropical events, but I get the impression they would hire on an Indian rainmaker if he could produce hurricanes on call.........
I'm sure you all have seen that series they've ben running "It Could Happen Tomorrow." Sheesh............. Stay tuned for the end of the world, please.
