Default INSTALLED NEW RADIO/CD AND NEED HELP

I installed a Sony Explode radio/cd player and installed new speakers, although I didn't install an amp. I installed a new radio/CD player with the existing Bose wiring. I see that the CD/radio is playing, but no sound out of the new speakers.

Any help appreciated

Rocky

What output off the back of the Sony did you use? amped or pre-amped?

Default Radio

I used a GM harness adapter and spliced it into the radio harness. I don't see anything on the back of the radio that states amps.

Rocky, not positive about this but I believe there are amps thought the car, so you will actually need to run new speaker wires from the head unit to the speakers (by passing the stock amps for the Bose speakers)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Default Thanks

I have had several responses, and most have to do with the Bose wiring. I was told that the Bose System has a relay to the speakers. Without the Bose radio telling the relay to go to the speakers, there won't be any sound.

Sounds about right to me.

When I installed a new cd player in my car via crutchfield. It came with a new GM wiring harness, this allowed me to use the factory speakers with current wiring and BOSE amp I just could not use the the BOSE special features; like volume by speed feature and cd changer anymore or use the feature my window valet had.

You may want to remove the radio and make sure the plugs are all connected securely and that you didn't pinch a wire or something.

Default Radio/CD problems

Chris,

Did you have to take out the relay? I took out all the Bose system, and have no amp.

Hi Rocky,

To answer your question, no i did not remove any relays on mine. I just plugged in one of the factory harnesses to my new radio harness and i was set. If you removed the amps you will need to run new wires to the speakers. I'm pretty sure...

Default THANKS

I used new speaker wire and the cd sounds great! Thanks for your help. I haven't checked the radio or the antenna yet.
