Default Advice and Opinions wanted...

TX MOMMA (Angel) and I were talking yesterday and she mentioned trading her car in, taking mine over and letting me get a Zo6 .
Needless to say, I was floored and pretty excited!
Then I got to thinking (dangerous I know), why not get another C6 (but an Mn6 this time) instead of an expensive Zo6?
I like the thought of extra HP, but I'm not sure if if I can justify the cost. Especially when I don't race my vette, nor do I have the desire to. So what would be the point?
If it's used as a DD and for cruises/trips...
Is there any difference other than HP and looks between the two?

If you don't track the car, then addt'l HP is only about bragging rights. Most of us (in FL) cannot begin to utilize the potential we have in the basic vette. You may enjoy the MN6 since you live in a semi-rural area. Living in Pinellas Co. I couldn't even consider a manual cause you can't go fast enough to get out of 3rd gear! Having said all that consider:

THIS LIFE IS THE REAL DEAL, NO DRESS REHEARSAL...GET WHAT YOU WANT!

Interesting... When Connie and I were at the last Tallahassee Corvette show, a guy there traded in his C6 Z06 for a new C6 vert. I may be mistaken, but I thought I heard that he did the trade even up. He claimed that the Z06 is just expensive to maintain. All of the wearable items are costly. A brake job is outrageous with all those individual pads. Oil changes take a specialist who knows what he is doing. There were several people at that show who wish they had known the guy was planning on getting rid of that Z06.....

Practically speaking, no, the C6 Z06 is not going to gain you a whole lot for a DD other than bragging rights. But heck, some people buy VETTES for that reason, so why not? Does a vette really get you to the supermarket any better than a Mini Cooper would?

Realistically, we all have vettes simply because we WANT them. And I think the same logic would apply to anyone wanting to buy a Z06. Practicality isn't going to matter at all. It's what you WANT that counts. Personally, I really like the looks of the C6 Z06 over the regular C6. Performance wise you could take the price difference between the Z06 and the C6, put the money into performance mods on the C6 and wipe the floor with the Z06. But that's not the point. The point is that the C6 Z06 is what it is. And no matter what you do to a regular C6, it STILL won't be a Z06.

If you can afford to do it, follow your heart.....

As you can see from my "Delimma" post, I'm not the best person to ask about some of this stuff, but, if it were me, I'd go with the vert. You have the option of open or closed driving and if you just want the looks, do what Andreah did and do the body mods

Slicker than hell IMO

Do a little engine modding (SC or turbop kit) and you're right there with most the Z06's for a third of the price

Default O how I wish I had this problem.

Here it comes, you wanted a thought on this,Will first of all,Wow what a good wife,To even bring that up. Let's be real here,DO YOU WANT A C6 Z06?If so then just get one,There are not that many chances in life that you can get want you want.If you two do not need or even want 2 vettes then get rid of them and get want you really want.Ya it is probably nice to have 2 vettes,I would not know But are both actaully being used for there prime purpose. And to me they are meant to be driven, maybe not everyday,But I know you two drive them sepertly sometimes and other times you two go out together. So you have to ask yourself is worth it to have two vettes and only drive one once in awhile or have two and drive both of them alot. Also when you go out on a long trip,do you take both or ride together in one?But I know you like to take the kids in the vettes also, but is it worth having two?And how often does that happens?
Now to the issue of owning a c6 zo6.Do you really want to lose the open air rides? With a z06 you will. Are you really going to use it for what it is made for? It's like owning a off road truck and never taking it on the dirt Your LS2 is fast enough,or is it?It is all what you really want to do with the vettes.Trade in Angel's and yours and get a newer c6 with a stick shift and all the bells and whistles. I hope you figure out this problem and if you get a c6zo6,Please take me for a ride,I will be your new best friend I'm going now and take a ride around in my Yugo and think about your problem

Shadow,
Now you know why I didn't reply to your post . Decisions can be a Biotch at times!
Krazy Horse,
The kitchen was just finished and the Bathroom is nearly done as well.
Rob,
We're going to keep my C6 and trade Angel's in on something. She'll just take mine over.
Besides, we love the fact that we have two in our corral.
Anyway,
I feel kind of like an idiot even asking for opinions about such a thing, but we have to do some car shuffling as we have too many at this point.
Mini Van, Nissan Armada, and the 2 Vette's So, I figure..trade the C5 and either the Mini van or Armada in on a newer Vette.
We owe $ on all of our cars so, the Idea is to trade up, since we're going to take a loss when trading them in.
Oh, and that Nissan pathfinder (not running) Which by the way Rob, you're welcome to it if ya want it.
Thanks for your replies .
