My take on this!! Like the majority of business in this country, lets gouge the consumer at every turn, no matter the economic situation.

Well of course they are! How else would they get the American people to buy into this New World Order crap when the standard of living in the USA is so much higher than most elsewhere in the world? The "powers that be" believe that in order to make an omelette, you need to break some eggs. Unfortunately, WE are those eggs.
