Unhappy St Pete Corral

I've been trying to get in touch with someone about Corral Parking at the ALMS Race at St Pete. I finally got an answer, not good, but after 3 weeks a reply:

Richard,

The Corvette Corral program is TBD at this point. ALMS & Corvette are determining if they wish to host hospitality at the 2008 event. We will post info on our website and notify all prospective members via email/phone call as soon as we have a yes or no. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks,

Craig

Rick, I have sent a few emails to the St.Pete GP website myself and still no reply here. Thanks for the update.

Rick,

It always takes awhile for all of the negotiations and contracts to be dealt with.

The information I have is that there will be a corral at St. Pete. and it will be sponsored by GM and operated by NCM. I have been designated the OSC (On Site Coordinator) for this event.

As soon as official word is given, it will be posted on this site.

Thanks for your enthusiasm for this great event.
Last year was an absolute blast, and this year should be even better!

I am hoping to have a new ZR1 on display. Who knows, maybe even a C6RS!
Note that I do not have any "inside" information at this time, only my personal speculation . (I don't want to start any rumors!)

Ernie

Rick, Ernie is the man to talk to about the corral. He will be one of our members that is coming with us this Saturday to Bradenton. I am not sure how much info he has yet, except GM and the NCM are planning the coral again this yesr.
See you Saturday.

Default St. Pete Corvette Corral

Well, as I said, nothing is cast in concrete!

I just received word that a decision was made to NOT have a corral in St. Pete! (Or Long Beach, CA)

I am in contact with them to find out why, and if there is anyway to convince them otherwise.

There were problems with the lack of marketing to the Corvette community (in my opinion) which resulted in a shortage of corral participants. That may be the reason for it.

I will keep you posted on whatever I find out.

Ernie

WoW

When I heard Chevy was sending the Pratt & Miller cars back out this season, I was excited. I contacted IMSA and was informed there in deed be Corrals at Sebring and St Pete. I guess this guy was just pulling my strings.
I thought I heard the St Pete Corral was over 90% capacity last year. Again I guess bad info.
No matter Ernie we won't hold you responsible so don't worry about Saturday... now where I put the tar at

I got a call a few weeks ago asking why I hadn't renewed my tickets from last year. I told them that I would only if they had a Corvette Corral. I guess I won't be going downtown this year!
