Question CD's from home unit

What am I doing wrong? I downloaded some cassettes to my PC, put them on a Memorex CD-R. They play on my home unit but when I put them in the Vette I get the "ERR" message. Am I using the wrong CD and if so why does it work on my home unit and not the car?

Did you convert the songs to a different format such MP3 or WMA .
Not all players will read all file types and on occasion it can be the media type.
I've made hundreds of Cd's and DVD's and had to buy a different DVD player that was able to play all the different (VCD, SVCD, DIVIX..) It was actually cheaper then the one I had.
The same for CD's. It could be the file format. My Vette is a 2001 with stock in dash and 12 disc changer. Both play copied CD's and CD's recorded in MP3. You could try a different media type, but I would say your player isn't compatible with the format. I'll try and do some more research.

Did you verify the file copy? Not all CD-Rs are created equal as far as quality is concerned...... I was trying to create a CD for a software update the other day, and one brand (Sony, I believe) just WOULD NOT work at all, whereas the Ricoh brand I had did just fine....

I don't want to sound like a wise ass Pres, but are they inserted correctly. I know my CDs that I play in my home CD changer go in the cartridge one way and the 12 CD changer in the Vette get put in the cartridge upside down compared to my home changer. If not, ...NEVERMIND!

Are you using a CD Changer or the in Dash Player?
When I bought my Vette, the 12 disc changer had a bad connection and that's what I got. Had to have a new changer installed.

Wink Figured it out?

I just have the in-dash player; it's an '03...I went out and bought a cleaning kit from Phillips. At first when I inserted the "repair disc" it also popped "ERR" and ejected. After trying it different ways it finally took and has a voice prompt telling you what it is doing. Afterwards it played store bought discs but only the ones I downloaded to a MUSIC CD it still will not play just regular CD-R's. I guess the Corvette player is more sensitive??? Either one will play in the home unit. Thanks GM!!!
