Emissions Testing Coming to Florida??

I read where someone in Florida claimes Charlie Christ is bringing emissions to the state. This is the first I've heard of it, anyone know anything about it?? http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1756110

Crist has mandated the lowering of SC "green House Gases". I have read that he is looking at the same standards for cars as California. Hopefully this link will take you to the article.

The only smog is the smog that idiot sees when he inserts his head up his arse!!!

I swear! Can't we think for ourselves? Why follow Kalifornia? If I wanted Kalifornia regs. I'd freaking move there Charlie!!!

He can't get a grip on the insurance industry or the tax problem but he wants to go green.....

Thanks for the link! It appears any new legislation will apply to new vehicles, so my old 69 and 79 will be safe. IMO all Gov Christ has to do is give police authority to ticket cars and trucks with an obvious emission violation. I see vehicles on I-95 wearing FL plates and with obvious emissions problems all the time. Creating a billion dollar emissions testing system is a waste of money IMO. Better he should pass legislation to curb the escalating cost of home insurance. Politicians can only come up with ways to spend money, not save it. (rant over)

Damn time to change, first it looks like I may not get a pay raise for the next couple of years ( city employee ) now he going after my headers and corsa exhaust. What next mandated bikes or horses!

I've only seen smog in Miami from around dawn to dusk in downtown. When you are on 95 south heading towards downtown during the day you can see the yellowish haze around the skyline but I've never seen this in any other part of the state.

Florida is as flat as a piece of, well, PLYWOOD! I remember as a kid we had those stupid smog inspections and then they got rid of them. Then they brought them back but only for Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Pinellas and Hillsborough Co.s. What a crock!!!!!!! Why only the five most populas counties? $$$$$$!!!!! Jeb got rid of them because it was well, a total scam and a waste of time. I remember in Miami-Dade right in front of the DMV where they did those stupid smog inspections, there would be a mechanic with a sign outside saying "Pass your inspection here!"
They'd rig your car just to go across the street and pass and then comeback and set it back to spec. Such a scam.

Then they allowed mechanics to become "certified" emissions inspectors and they would simply charge you twice the price of the DMV and give you the sticker without even bothering to inspect it. Again, a big scam. I've been told by a couple of muffler shops that as long as you have your cat on and it's in good working order, you'll be fine. Also if your car is older then I believe 1974-76, somehwere in there, then you are exempt.
