Yeah, I think the ZR-1 raises the bar that future Corvettes are going to have to jump over. I think the mpg issue is just an engineering problem that can be licked. Heck, who would have ever thought years ago that a Corvette with 405 horsepower on tap could cruise at 32 mpg down the highway?

Personally I believe the oil companies and the auto industry are so closely connected at the hip that there has really been no incentive at all to increase gas mileage. Everything has just been lip service.

As for the ZR-1 itself, I was all prepared to rape my gun vault in order to get one. Until I actually saw the specs and photos. Close, but no banana.... Plus the word that the dealers are going to be lubing up the shaft for all those people who just HAVE to have one.

And yes, "427", as far as I am concerned, is a *magic* number for the Corvette. When my C5Z engine finally gasps it's last breath, that is what is going in under the hood.

Can't wait to see your new Z when you get it....... We are all going to be just as impatient as you are waiting ......

Think Cadillac Sixteen. You know the part where it could shut down to just 4 cylinders and sip gas. I believe they actually have that ability in a few models now, but not sure which ones. If they fit this on the vette, and have a nice little button to turn it on and off, you could probably see the gas mileage number go through the roof. Then according to the EPA, they'd meet the standards, even if most owners elected to turn it off.

It seems I was wrong about Atomic Orange being discontinued. Preliminary ordering information was posted today and it looks like they found a way to get 9 colors in at Bowling Green. All 2008 colors stay, except Blade Silver replaces Machine Silver. Cyber Gray is added.

We were with our friends Brett and Stacy last night and they have a new Z in red/comp grey wheels.. I had to try to keep from staring at it. I think it might have made Greg want to drive his car soon. or sell his to get a new one

Default Change in Plans

I really wanted a 2009, but because I thought Atomic Orange was going away I went ahead and ordered now. Well, now that I found out Atomic Orange is not going away I asked the dealer if I could change the order from an '08 to an '09 and he agreed! So this will all be delayed a couple of months and I will get one of the first 2009s. WooHoo!

If you're in the market for a new Corvette you HAVE to give Rick Conti at EVS Chevrolet a shot at your business. Amazing deal and a super-nice guy!
