Well, I've got three remote thermometer sensors on the front porch and they are reading 29.7, 30.0, and 32.2 right now at 1:00 am. Yeah, I think it's going to get pretty chilly before the temps start climbing again when the sun comes up.
Some of the plants weren't real happy about last night. The Japanese magnolias are always about the first to bloom here, and often they get their blooms zapped by these later cold fronts that blast through.
I sure wouldn't want to own a nursery right now and have to have spent all weekend covering plants from the cold coming.

Little chilly around your area eh? I can sympathize with you a bunch. It was
16* this morning when I got up, and 21* with a good sized wind (40MPH-ish)
when I was snowblowing yesterday. Never mind the PLANTS not liking it, NEITHER
DO I. This is the worst time in New England, I think. For about 4 weeks in Jan-Feb
the temps get down into the single digits, and with the wind, it becomes bone
chilling. I'm always glad to get out of Feb. and in to March. The temps are rising,
the days are getting longer, and people's moods in general start to get better.
PLUS, we always come to Florida sometime in March, and that helps out a bunch.

Heck, I feel that way NOW. When Connie and I first moved down here, 50 degrees felt pretty comfortable. Guess we've officially got "Florida blood" now.
Low got down to 27.2 on the front porch, so it didn't get as cold as the previous night. We'll be folding up most of the tarps today to put them away. Connie has some REAL tropical plants that she'll cover if it drops below 40 degrees, so we'll keep at least one tarp at the ready for a while.

Well, looks like the Spring rains are setting in around here. Been raining pretty solidly all day long, and more forecast thru Monday. Might be a while before I'll be able to take any of the cars out again if the road is the mess I think it is right now.

It's "Bend Over Here It Comes Again" (BOHICA) time in the great frozen Northeast!
Looks like we're gonna get 3 to 6 inches more of that ^#%&$-ing
white stuff again this weekend! I just wanna know how come it can't snow
during the week sometimes? Why on the weekends? SHEESH..I can hardly
wait till this crap is all gone for this year!
