Need/seek expertise.
Just need some thoughts from those of you who own Z06's or at least 03 Vettes.
Now mind you it's very early and nothing has changed hands.
Received a call from a gentleman who may be interested in a trade of a C5 Z06 for My C3 "Goldie". Z is said to have low miles and no previous damage. I realize I'm not giving you much at this point but my C3 is a War Bonnet Yellow Coupe, 4 speed, numbers matching ole girl. Engine work by my friend Tracy to include roller rockers, roller lifters, cam and such sweet stuff.
Wadda ya think?
Again I realize I offer little, as yet.
Thanks Guys, Ken

If you're going to drive it regularly, the 03 Z is a blast. They're fast, great handling and pretty reliable cars. Not to mention Sharp looking. Mine puts a smile on my face every time I start it up and head out. Lots of easy go fast mods available for it too.
That being said, the day I sold my '71 LS5 was the saddest day of my automotive related life. If there's any way to have both, do it. It's getting harder to find reasonably priced, good C3's.
Also, watch how you value the transaction. I picked mine up from a private party, mid 50Ks on the clock for about $17K. Body was in fair- good condition (mostly paint chips, a few stress cracks, nothing major), mechanically excellent.
Good luck with your decision.

Hey Ken,
You will definitely see a major improvement in ride, handling and performance. Also more comfortable and easier to get into and out of car.
I would suggest you have John Wilson at Auto XTC go over the C5 and make sure it is a kosher trade.
Or better yet, trade up to a C6!!!!!!

Hey Ken,
As and owner of a C3 big block and a C5 Z06, I can tell you that the difference is night and day. The comfort alone will make you drive the Z more often and for longer distances than you will the C3 big block. The technology is so far advanced that you will me amazed at how quick the Z actually is. You won't be sorry about getting into a Z06.
As far as the trade is concerned, only you can make the determination whether it is the right deal for you. But, I remember you were asking low 30s for Goldie, and you can buy low mileage 03 and 04 Z06s in the low to mid 20s.
Whatever deal you make, you will always love the C3 that you had, and you will not regret owning a C5 Z06.
Good luck with whatever you come up with and say hi to Carrie for us. BTW, headed to Key West tomorrow morning with our club. Taking the '01 vert so we can put the top down once we get to the Keys. Would have loved to met you and Carrie for a drink down there again.
Rich

Hey Rich, not to hijack the thread, but how long will it take you to get from Ft. Meyers
down to Key West? Got a buddy doing it in a couple of weeks from Cape Coral, and
he would like to know the approximate drive time.
Thanks,
Andy Anderson

Hey Rich and Andy, always good to see and hear from you both.
I look at the Z06 tomorrow morning. I must admit just a bit of trepidation does exist in both directions but we shall see. Do love my C3 but would really enjoy some comfort. Believe me you guys will know the results of the journey ASAP.
Stand by for further
Ken

Hey Andy,
From Ft Myers to Key West is about 5 1/2 hours depending on traffic and keeping 35 Corvettes together.
Rich
