When I was a kid, I remember my grandfather saying to me "Ritchie, the world is a whole lot more complicated now then when it was in my day." And I was thinking, "Wow! What is so complicated about things now? Stuff is EASY!"
So the other day the wife and I were in the grocery store in the cereal aisle, and it is TRULY overwhelming the number of choices you have there. Back in MY day, you had maybe 6 different kinds of cereal. That was it. Now, there are literally dozens, and probably more not even on the shelves there. Then go for a carton of milk. How many ways can you squeeze juice out of a cow?
And EGGS! For crying out loud, it used to be SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE eggs. And what in the world is this "all natural, organic" stuff. How much more natural and organic can a chicken egg get,
as is?
So now when you buy a phone, the manual that comes with it is in 9 different languages and thicker and bigger than the phone itself. A clock can be downright intimidating, and lord help me if Connie sets me loose in the kitchen having to figure out that stove she got recently. And I'm a computer programmer by trade!
What would my grandfather think today if he were still alive?
