From what I have heard, they made the LS9 almost bullet proof. I believe the rods are titanium and the pistons are forged. The reason they used the LS3 block as the base instead of the LS7 was because the engineers were afraid that the LS7's cylinder walls were too thin to hold up long under the forced induction.
So yeah, I believe they put a lot of thought and effort into this motor. Time will tell whether the supercharger itself will go the distance, since I believe it was custom designed specifically for this application.
