Default Indoor/Outdoor Car Covers?

I am looking at car covers for my new C6. I plan to keep it garaged the majority of the time, but on the rare occassion when it can't be kept inside --- I would feel much better knowing it was at least covered.

After looking at different brands of covers I've ended up considering a Covercraft Weathershield. Anybody have one? Or, do you have any suggestions on a cover that might be even better?

Thanks!

Actually this topic is right on time for me. If I do get a C6 for Connie, it is going to have to sleep under the stars, because I just KNOW she isn't going to throw her Silverado out from under the car port for the vette. Well, maybe.... We'll have to see about that one, I think....

In any event, I will likely be looking for a cover too, pretty shortly. If for nothing else, to keep the pine sap off of it. Very few spots around here where you can park and not be under a tree.

Bold... Why do you say that? Are they hurricane proof?

damn near it lol. I've been looking around and those 2 are the only ones that can stand up to the UV as well as the HEAVY rain.

Some do UV well, but not rain, a tarp does rain better than any, but not UV or breatheable.

Those 2 are the only ones that can handle all 3, from what I read I think they both can take like 3-4" an hour of rain before getting saturated.

I've used a NOAH since I bought my car. It goes on and off twice a day during the week, because I keep it covered at work as well as at home.

I've been pretty happy with it. It's been washed a few times. The last time some fabric softener was added by mistake and that was the end of that. Didn't bother the cover any but now it leaves this nasty film on the car. Yuck. Tried washing it out, no go, at least not at reasonable expense. So I ordered another one, which I guess is an endorsement.

The NOAH carry bag is compeletely worthless. Do Not Buy.

These covers are a soft fabric, so yes, they will pick up dirt and you're going to have to wash them if they do. If the car is real dirty I won't put the cover on until it is washed. If I can I use a duster on the car before covering but I've found that generally isn't all that practical. "Dirty", for me, usually means 3-400 miles worth of bugs and road film, and that won't "dust" off.

The cover is not waterproof and should not be considerd as such. It does however dry pretty quickly. I've also dried it on low in the dryer (at a laundromat, it's huge and heavy when wet) after washing it and that didn't seem to hurt it any, although it did shrink slightly after the first wash. That was an improvement actually, as it was a tad loose when new.

I've heard of people getting 3-5 years out of these, but I think if it's parked outside a lot, and hence needs to be washed fairly often, that life will be shorter. For cars kept under a carport, and only driven on weekends, it won't be too bad.

I will say that having and using the cover has been great. I should have done this on other cars. One car wash a week and the cover keeps the car clean enough to be presentable pretty much all the time. That's not bad at all. Takes me about a minute to take off and stow, less time to put on. So overall I've been well-pleased with the results.
