My current mechanic in Haines City opened up the covers and did just what was suggested here. He carefully cleaned out the valve top area with something like a putty knife and changed the oil among other things. At this time, he suggested that I start getting oil changes every 30-90 days for a while as it is an almost daily driver. He also said that some of my valve seals were not closing properly and we would take care of that as we go along.
I have used both Marvel Mystery Oil and Risoline in the past and I plan to incorporate them again as I work on this problem. I can't see that they have every done any harm and I like to think they help. I know some folks swear by them.
