Rich: What de-humidifier have you had good luck with? I am unable to have a ducted a/c system installed in the garage for the same reason Rich427 stated and if the de-humidifier is effective I will try that. I'm undecided between that or getting a separate thru-the-wall a/c unit.

Here's the one I am using right now -> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

The brand I had before (which I can't remember) seemed to have a highly inaccurate reading for the humidity. This newer one seems to agree with another standalone humidity meter I have in the garage with it.

Only time will tell about it's longevity in service, of course.

I am seriously considering hiring my cute neighbor to come over on Vette work days and fan me and bring me cold beers. Of course I get to choose the bikini (no guys not bikini for me). sheesh.

Connie and I got the insulation done on the garage doors this week. Just need to put the aluminum tape on the seams and hope like heck that the double sided tape holds up OK for a few years. Cleaning the doors, marking for the alignment of the insulation panels, putting on the double sided tape, then sticking on the insulation took about 4 or so hours per door.

Next step will be to take the kluge install of the portable air conditioned unit and put the exhaust pipe into a wall so it's not blocking one of the garage doors. Hopefully this 14K btu AC and the door insulation will help keep the temps down in there. The insulation should make quite a difference, since the afternoon sun got those doors QUITE hot to the touch and that heat was radiating directly into the garage. So we shall see....

Hopw this works for you. A couple months ago, we took all the insulation out above our master bedroom and garage and then had the undersurface of roof and trusses sprayed with foam insulation. Wow what a big difference it made in keeping heat out of garage and bedroom and a/c bill is lower too.

Well, I had PLENTY of this stuff left over. One entire "kit" plus about half of the third roll. Better to have too much than too little, I suppose.

So I started using this barrier insulation on the cars by putting it underneath the car mats (front and rear) on the cars to see if it helps with the heat there. These cars get pretty darn hot on the floorboards and especially in the trunk, so I'm hoping this will cut down that heat considerably.

Hmm, guess I should have done a "before and after" with the temp gun. But I guess for certain it can't make it any hotter!
