Default C5 Corvette Throttle Body - Getting Dialed In

C5 Corvette Throttle Body - Getting Dialed In

We show you how to install a Vmax ported throttle body in your C5 CorvetteWe decided to run a check run to make sure we were in the same ballpark since it had been a while since we had Project C5X on the dyno. The first run produced 327.90 horsepower at 337.37 lb-ft of rear-wheel torque which was pretty close to where we needed to be. After the VMax TB install, the next dyno run produced 335.49 horsepower at 343.21 lb-ft of rear-wheel torque, picking up another 7 peak horsepower and almost 6 lb-ft of rear-wheel torque.

Although the picture is of a 75mm prototype used during our intial testing and revisions with Pete Incaudo of VMax, the end numbers are 6-8 RWHP on average and these make the hand ported ones we have been doing since 1997 when the LS1 was launched obsolete. This took months of testing and re-design of the patterns with the dyno work done at RevXtreme. The CNC spiral cut patterend porting gives not only the low-end response improvement of hand porting, but gives the power increases the hand porting cannot. And the best part? Price. $112 for a 75mm and $149 for the 90mm with an acceptable core.

And these gains are seen OVER the hand ported versions.

Pete Incaudo for those that don't know comes from the old Crane Cams and is a power genius. Every RevXtreme custom grind cam has Pete's input in the design and our LS7 head porting was designed & developed by Pete as well.
