Hey wait a minute, I bought a Pace Car new in 1978 for $18,000 which at the time was 6 grand over sticker. A lawyer friend of mine bought one also and we had two brand new ones in his garage. Soon thereafter the market took a big dump on those cars, I eventually sold it for what I paid. It was a poor investment.
There are dealers willing to sell ordered cars for MSRP just gotta look. I spent 30 years working at new car dealers as a Parts and Service Director, most sales managers are under ernormeous pressure to generate bottom line profit so they do what they have to to keep their jobs. Also Managers, sales people, parts people and service managers and advisors work on commission so it is their best interest to sell their products for as much as they can, it directly relates to money in their pockets. The only saving grace is when you charge top dollar you must provide top shelf service. In the car business there is an old saying, "there's an ass for every seat." Some people are willing to pay over, and some people aren't. Just my .02
