Default Rear Gear Ratio

I have an '06 convertible manual trans and would like to know what the gear ration is on the rear end.

All my window sticker says is Limited Slip Differential which I think means posi-traction.

I ordered the Vette and did not include any rear end options (if there were any).

I won't swear to this but I think most manuals come with a 3.42 rear gear. But mines an '02 so that may have changed.

Option codes as follows:

GM8 2.56

GM9 3.63

GU6 3.42

They only made 8 with the GM9 and all 8 were Z06 cars.

Yes, I saw the option codes but couldn't find it in my paperwork.
There were 8,127 convertibles with a 2.56 and 3,024 with a 3.42.
Am thinking I have a 2.56 because of the low rpms at high speeds but maybe Mark is right and it is a 3.42.
I was just wondering what I had. I am thinking of doing a couple of upgrades to beef up the horsepower and thought it would be a good thing to know what the gear ration was.

Thanks for the comments.

Are the the RPO codes not on a sticker on your storage tray doors? (They are on the C4's.)

3.42 for ALL manual trannies, no optional rear axle ratio. 2.56 for automatics unless you order the optional 2.73 ratio or get the Z51 option, which gets you the 2.73 ratio as part of the Z51 package.

stolen from the big forums.

I'm curious, what is the code for the 2.73? I only find the three above mentioned gear ratios (2.56, 3.63, and 3.42) on the Bowling Green RPO sheet. It does list the Z51 six speed as MZ6 versus the standard six speed as a MM6, but makes no mention of a 2.73 gear set.

Dont know the code, but I know it was an option. I spent a lot of time looking at C6s. It was only available for the Z51s with the A6 though, unless you knew your local dealer well which had ties to the factory.

Thanks to you guys, my quest has ended. I found the tag in the glove box.
It has the GU6 RPO code for a 3.42 rear.

I asked my friend to look at his tag, he has an auto '06 with the Z51 option, and his RPO code is GM8 for a 2.56 rear.

Like you guys, I have not seen a RPO code for a 2.73 rear. The following web page has the 2006 Vette Production Options. www.vettefacts.com/C6/2006.aspx

I looked at the www.vettefacts.com/c4/1985.aspx but did not see a RPO code for the rear.

Thanks again.
