General BS forum I guess this will be for anything that would seem to be off topic in any other forum here. Just general shootin' the breeze kind of topics. |

Jeep
Thinking hard about getting rid of one of the Corvettes and buying a new Jeep Wrangler. I suppose I'm getting tired of not being able to take out the cars when it rains (and days afterwards) and gets our road tuned into a mud bog. Besides there are MILES of sandy roads in the Apalachicola National Forest practically at our doorstep that I haven't been out on since I sold the '98 Wrangler we used to have.
Still looking at the options to try to figure out what I want, so I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve. And Lord I am going to hate to have to deal with car salesmen again......
Actually went to the local Jeep dealership and looked at a few Wranglers close up and personal, and there is one there I am interested in. But it seems the sales guy who snagged us didn't really know much about the product.

Ah, get the Jeep - but keep the Vettes. You'll regret selling

Only got room in the garage for four vehicles, so one has to go in order to make room.

Rich, are you a COSTCO member? Check it out, they will buy your new car/truck direct, no salesman involved. Average saving is (IIRC)$3600 per vehicle. Their sales are up to 400,00 a year, up from 200,000 last year. They must be doing something right! Worth a look-see. And you can add on to your garage. Maybe a lean-to on the end.

No, never been in a CostCo. I've had a Sams Club card for years, though. Is CostCo a better choice to shop (generally speaking) than Sams?

Maybe so, but truth be known, as much as we drive (or lack thereof), we really don't need to have 3 vettes. We actually drive the truck most of the time, even on trips lately, since we need a bike carrier to take the bikes with us. Never really looked to see if I could even get a trailer hitch put onto one of the vettes.
We would be trading in the 2007 C6 since it's an automatic. Really got it for Connie, since she won't drive a stick shift, but she really doesn't drive it much. I think she would drive the Jeep a lot more.

That sounds very interesting. Can you elaborate, please?

COSTCO is like the Publix Supermarkets of wholesale clubs. Bigger and better selection. Stuff may cost a dollar more than SAM's but quality is better and the employee's attitudes are MUCH better!
It appears COSTCO has a pre-negotiated pricing guide with the select dealers that is based on vehicle invoice price. I had a brochure that explained the savings but can't find it now. I found this on-line:
http://blog.caranddriver.com/buying-...t-the-dealing/
I apparently erred when I stated there was no salesman involved. The salesman just uses the COSTCO price guide.
