Mine was a '66 convertible. Man I loved that car....... But of course, had I been smarter, I would have bought a '66 Vette.

Mine was a 70' Ram Air IV Judge convertible ...

A white, completely unmarked car. No Pontiac, no GTO, no Judge, no nothing. Just white with a white top and light tan interior. Original owner special ordered it that way, and I bought it off him with six thousand miles on it.

Even had the factory vacuum operated exhaust cut out under the dash. Push the walnut knob in and it sounded like a Bonneville, pull it out and it sounded like a dragster. Today that option is worth about 30 K to a car.

Sold it when the oil embargo hit. One of my top three stupid things I've done....should have just stored it.

Yeah..... Wish I had had a crystal ball when I was younger to know then what I would know now. I could have been a gazillionaire. Heck just the comic books and baseball cards alone that my mom made me throw out (and the box of basball cards my cat used as a litter box ) could have earned me a fortune.

Oh well......

Anyway, my 8-ball shaped and colored shifter knob should be here tomorrow. Unfortunately I won't be here to put it on and play with on my jaunt to Micanopy. I'm sure we'll be gone before UPS shows up here. Rats....

Well, I've been using this MTI shifter with the new 8-ball style shifter knob

and I LIKE it. The wife says the round knob looks kind of old fashioned, but I like the feel. I got the 2 inch diameter ball rather then the 2.25 inch one. I thought it would fit my hand better. It is much lower then that tall knob I had on the shifter previously and gives a shorter shift because of it. I was afraid that with the short shift the effort to shift would put me back in the realm of the Hurst shifter I took out. Nope, still feels firm but easy to catch the gears. Even reverse is relatively easy to get to. Shifts feel sure and solid with no "hunt and peck" shifting.

Looks like I'll be putting my Hurst up for sale. The MTI is a keeper!
