Heck, the national weather service can't accurately predict what the weather is going to be tomorrow, much less what an entire hurricane season is going to be like. The forecast can change HOURLY sometimes. For instance the forecast NOW for the next week in Tallahassee looks NOTHING at all like it did when I looked at it this morning.
It is unconscionable that they cater to their advertisers, and their desire to GET more advertisers, by trying to whip up a fear frenzy like they do. Most of their forecasts are being based on a worse case scenario for that very reason. Now, when a hurricane is developing, you can see the obvious glee they have for the excitement and interest (plus advertising revenue) it will generate for them.
I do believe that when the Weather Channel was advertiser free, the service and honesty of their predictions was MUCH better.
