Sorry, this is going to ruffle a lot of feathers but......... It should have been a primary offense from the time it was signed into law. It's about time. It took way too long.

I have seen an untold number of crashes where people have died or maimed because they were too damned stupid to wear a seat belt.

I have been in 2 horrendous crashes at high speed were my seat belt saved my life and my ass.

WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT. Their are no GOOD reasons to not wear one.

I have also had my ass and face saved by my seat belt.
Put them on every time now.

I ahve to agree. There's no good reason not to wear them.

I've spent many an hour on scene where a simple piece of materal and metal would have saved a life. I've had to make the notifications becasue the didn't.

There are arguements on both sides...

I've been in police crashes both with and without them. I've survived all of them.

It's said that God looks out for Drunks and Fools.

I wasn't drunk in any of them

Finally, as most here know, I lost a good friend and co-worker March 1 a year ago in an auto crash. The crash was probably not preventabe.

His death however, may have been with the simple use of a seatbelt.

Please wear them my friends

I never used to wear them ever... Now with the C6, I always wear them because if not, the damn chimes continue to ring... I got so used to wearing them now that I always do. I guess GM solved that problem for me before the senate did.

Same here.

The seatbelt fine is $91.00 right now (but no points on your record). I doubt it will change, especially to go DOWN to $30.00 (with as greedy as the legislators have gotten lately).

Personally, I think its a little ridiculous for the state to ticket you for a seat belt and allow motorcyclists to ride without helmets.
