Ike! Yikes!
Hurricane Ike has formed a well defined eye now and building up strength. Projections look like SE Florida may be the target area and possible a cat 3. Maybe stronger when it crosses into the very warm gulf stream that runs east of Florida in that area. Landfall, as depicted right now, is expected around Tuesday sometime. So keep your eyes on this one, folks. And if you are in the SE section of the state, make plans and stock up on supplies NOW.

My mother is a Florida native ,93 yrs old and has seen almost 300 hurricanes. She estimates that probably 30 direct hits.Lots of times they had only a few hours warning .
She lives in Holly Hill (North Daytona) and is one tough old lady.

I've been looking at this one for a few days now, it looks like it can't miss.
Maybe I'll get some more batteries and another propane tank.

$10 says it goes directly over my house, just like all the others. Just got my house painted too...
Guess it's time to stock up and get some gas for the generator while the skies are clear.

Ike
"Ike" looks really nasty and I have this weird vibe that we are not going to miss this one and Florida is going to get nailed.
"Hanna" is running up the east coast and rain will be an issue and will soak us for when "Ike" hits.
Let's all watch these storms real close and be prepared.
Jim

The biggest trick is knowing when to get out. If it a 3 or more I'd rather be out but I'd rather be home than stuck on 75

Hanna is now forecast to hit North Carolina, so perhaps we won't get much weather from that one.
Looks like the forecast has downgraded Ike to be a cat 3 when it gets close to Florida. Kind of interesting to note that the forecast doesn't seem to want to predict anything closer to Florida than Bermuda. The forecast for the past couple of days has stopped dead there....
