Well the latest forecast shows Cuba getting creamed, with Florida basically dodging this bullet. Each new forecast seems to be pushing the storm further southwest. Still, New Orleans appears to have a bullseye painted over top of it..........
It looks like the southern tip of Florida may still get clipped by Ike, so at the very least, if you live in the Keys, I would think about taking a short vacation further north......
I think the forecasters are underestimating how strong Ike is going to be when it impacts the Texas coast. Look at this graphic and see how QUICKLY a very well defined eye developed when the center came off of Cuba. SE Florida is getting some strong bands off the storm as well. And it appears to be slowing down, so a course change is NOT out of the question at all....
