Default Well that was close!

As most know I travel among 3-5 counties on a daily basis. When I'm headed to Bradenton and points south, I usually take the vette. Better fuel economy, smoother ride and just nice to have with me when I'm that close to the water

Today I was headed to Bradenton/Sarasota for the day on business. Planned on taking the vette as usual, but looked south and saw a bunch of clouds building. Also mapped out the places I needed to go and one looked like it may be in the middle of BFE, so I decided to take the Landcruiser.

I pull out of my subdivision and stop at the light at the Veterans X-pressway and Ehrlich Road not 3 minutes later. As the light turns green.....BAM!!!

Rear ended by some lady in a convertible Chrysler Sebring!

Funny part was, all I heard was a thud, felt a small jolt and only moved forward because I'd just taken by foot off the brake.

Got out, looked at the cars and asked if she was ok? She was shaking like a leaf

Her hood looked like a pup tent, the grill was toast, my bumper hitch impaled itself into her radiator and the car was bleeding to death.

The plastic cover between the windshield and hood was trashed and the fenders...well, she'll need a couple more.....

My truck?

Radiator coolant on the reciever was the only was you could tell I was even involved

In the end, everyone was ok, no police, no reports, no tickets and no reason for the insurance companies to jack up her insurance

Alls good in the world

And the vette is SAFE

Yeah man, that WAS close! Would have been a much different story had you had the vette then. Glad you are OK..... No matter how good or careful of a driver you are, that is not enough protection against the people behind the wheel who pay more attention to the cell phone or something else other than their driving......

I think I'll take a clue from you guys and put the trailer ball back in the hitch on the Suburban.

Im glad you are ok and the lady also , Good thing you follow your instinct and left the vette home. now I allways drive with 4 eyes and a defensive mode ,to many drivers with cell phones 1/2 a second is enough for a serious accident. And by the way I hate those of you who dont use turn signal .

Me too. I was more concerned with her. She disappeared briefly under the bumper.

She went so far down that it didn't even trip the air bag sensors.

Lady N, sometimes you jsut have to trust your gut. Kept me alive this long

yeah, bradenton/sarasota should have been your clue to drive a tank through here lol. good save, just think though if a dirty car won you a trophy, wonder what a banged up rear end would bring in lol.

lady n, depth perception and as gordon said gut feeling is better then relying on drivers to use a signal. i never use one to change lanes unless some old person leaves a 1" gap between my take over, and turning off on to another street.
