It really depends on your driving. I don't track my car so I went to ceramics on my Z a couple of years ago to get rid of the squeal and dust. No regrets.

Very cool.
Only been here an hour or so and already "solved" my only real complaint on the 04. That squeal on easy brake applications!
Looks like there may be a set of ceramics in my future.

When I had Baer Eradispeed drilled and slotted rotors put on my C5Z, I naturally put new brake pads on as well. I went with the HPS shoes and they have never had any squeaking at all. Stopping is just fine, and there seems to be a lot less dust than what I was getting before with presumably stock pads.....
The only thing that does seem different is that I can hear the rotors make a definite humming noise (from the rotor slots, I assume) when braking with even moderate force. But it's no big deal..... I just like the looks of the drilled and slotted rotors....

Hmmm. I must be doing something wrong. Stock brakes, 24k miles, I've never heard squeak one.

You must be the lucky one...from what I understand I'm not alone with these squeeky brakes. I'm sure I'll be putting on the ceramics and then I'll be so quiet I could sneak up on anyone! (at least until the new exhaust goes on
