Default Four Sale Posters

I've noticed Nytro hasn't posted since he had a disagreement on the For Sale Forum. I sort of agree with his view of the argument. There are a couple of people who have only signed up and made 1 or 2 posts in the four sale column. In one way this is good, they might have something great for sale, but also, they could care less about the "real" members who try and contribute on a regular basis. It's the regulars who help the forum survive and grow, not the one post wonders. It's hard for me to welcome someone who only posts in the four sale area and then attack someone for expressing their opinion about their only posting there. I think Nytro was very knowledgeable and if this incident is what made him leave someone should try and get him back. He would always come up with an answer for a tech question or tell you where to find it. I personally believe this is more important then an air pump.

Patience, please. Even the one post wonders have a bright side to them. They are adding to the totality of this site. Face it, numbers count. Anyone coming to this site will look at the numbers and that will be the deciding factor as to whether they stick around or not. Personally I would rather have 1,000 single posts from 1,000 fly by posters than none at all from ANY of them. Eventually the numbers will begin to look substantial enough to maybe get more to stick around.

Heck, how many members have already wandered off in boredom because this site just was not active enough for them? We need them to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. So how do we get that to happen? How do we get THEM to become part of the increased traffic that they see lacking here now?

I think it's Tallyimports.com that new members have to post in the Intro/welcome section before they can post in any other forum...... seems like a good Idea to me. that way you get at least 2 posts from them.

JC,

I agree with your comment. In fact I made a suggestion earlier about the possibility of when someone signs up that it automatically takes them to the
Welcome Room so that they can introduce themselves. But, I know Rich has his hands full with the eggs hatching and the issues he is currently dealing with to improve the performance of the site. I am sure that Rich will look into something like this once he has the ability to come up for air.

Rich

Rich, I think thats a great ideal. I also think that posting straight into the for sale section although there's nothing particularly wrong with it, might not be the best way to get aquainted.

I tend to look at a 1st post in for sale as just another place to try to sell stuff with no intent to stick around

I hope thats not the case.

Nytro is a big boy and I hope he'll come back and join us again. I really enjoyed his information
