Default Weather forecasts...

What the heck does this one mean? What will be different about the morning compared to the afternoon?

So yesterday evenine the forecast for today was partly cloudy with only a 10 percent change of rain. Now it has changed to 100% chance of heavy thunderstorms.

I really do not understand why I even bother looking at the forecast at all. Those people are completely clueless about what the future holds for weather. And anyone who believes their forecasts of global warming and the resulting disasters really need to get a grip on reality. If they cannot get a forecast correct for a mere 12 hours, why would anyone believe a forecast of decades into the future?

Yeah, you do have to wonder what the qualifications are for the job of weather forecaster. Connie and I have been trying to plan a few overnight trips here and there and want to work around the weather, but it's impossible to do so. The forecast will change drastically even just 24 hours out, almost hourly. For instance a couple of days ago the forecast was for partly cloudy skies with only a 10 percent chance of rain. Obviously they don't even look at their own weather radar, because I could see that just wasn't going to be the case. Sure enough, a couple hours before the storm hit, the "forecast" changed to 100 percent chance of heavy thunderstorms.

So this upcoming week was looking good last night up till maybe Friday, with just partly cloudy skies forecast, and we thought we might be able to get out. So I looked at the forecast this morning and now it is showing an 80 percent change of PM thunderstorms on Wednesday.

A while back I actually did screen captures of the 10 day forecast and it was actually "gallows humor" kind of funny noting the forecast changing as much as it did. I think that along with the percentage chance of precipitation for each day, they really should display a percentage chance of that forecast actually being correct.

If the federal government really wants to make some budget cuts to save some money, I know where they could probably stand some really big cuts. Whatever money is being spent on weather forecasting is obviously money being poorly spent.
