Default Eckler's Reunion

I guess it's all in the way you look at the shows....I got to see dozens of my friends at Eckler's and enjoyed many a laugh. Car Shows are what you make them to be. Perhaps you should attending auto cross events or drag racing to get a bit more excitement. We do those events also and when we're heading to a car show we know what to expect. Old Town is a great venue as you have plenty of shops and restaurants to visit, not to mention SHADE.....if you think of this event as boring you should attend a show that is in the center of a parking lot with no shade to escape the baking of the sun. The nice thing about the sun scorcher shows is that you have survival to concern yourself with and the day goes by faster......cars shows aren't for everyone, but the folks I spoke to seemed to enjoying themselves.

This was my first Ecklers and it will not be my last. Great venue, great crowd and finally got to meet some of you eye to eye (Kap142, SteveK, junkedad, classy, larrybroga and a couple of others). I am new to this scene and so far am enjoying the hell out of it. See you next year.

Although, a wet bikini contest does sound like fun for us old geezers

You've got my vote!
If not a bikini contest, I'll settle for a Wet T-Shirt contest...

I didn't get there until early afternoon and spent a couple of hours walking around. Had an opportunity to say Hi! to Ynkedad, Classy, Txmomma and others from the forum and the club I belong to.
I always enjoy looking at other Vettes and see how each owner personalizes their car.
Hope you can make it to the Port in April. Check it out at www.capekennedycorvetteclub.com.
By the way SteveK, I volunteer to judge the Wet T-Shirt contest.

Works for me. Fishlip's Restaurant at the Port is one of my customers. Maybe we can hold the Wet T-Shirt contest on their upper deck.

See you at the Port!

Default Well...

We had a great time at the Ecklers show ,
and had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of the fine people who make up this forum. Those of you we didn't meet or see, we tried to find ya's, and sometimes we only found your car.
Congrats to go out to those of ya's that won awards, Kap and Larry, we were in the crowd cheering ya's on .
We even had the pleasure of meeting several Ladies from the Marion County Corvette Club, Judy and Clare, who we spoke with and then introduced us to several of their members. They actually inspired us to want to check out their club. We also informed them of this site, of which they had no idea existed. Giving them a flyer that they're going to Xerox and hand out at their next meeting

Although I didn't care much for the hoods down, tops up thing either, I guess I understand why it was done. But as soon as I had the opportunity to drop the top and pop the hood, I did.
Yea we registered to "show" our Vette's and to be judged, but for us it's not always about that or what "we" get to see in/on other Vette's. There's plenty of shows coming up, where we'll have the opportunity to see other vette's and their mods, because we're Vette owners.
For us, it's about meeting up with friends and sharing our cars with those who aren't Vette owners, those who'll only dream of owning a Vette and those who don't get to go to the Vette shows like we do. Watching the little kids faces (some of which belong to grown men) as they're in absolute Awe by the site of OUR Vette's, is a pretty cool thing. We also enjoy meeting others who own Vette's as well as those who don't.
I personally had several people aproach me asking if I'd start my car up and allow them to hear my Exhaust system. OHHHH YEA !

A convertible Vette owner actually allowed a couple of people (one was a child) to sit in their car for a photo op ! Those are the sort of people I want to know.

To all of you that we met, It was a real pleasure.
To those of you that allowed us to hang out with you and let our hair down a bit (Kap, Carrie (SP?), Mary, Rob, 98Softail and his wife)...THANKS, it was FUN!!!
Kap, I'll bring the beer next time!
Rob, no more mini golf for you!
Sorry...to SteveK and his wife...It was good to see ya's again.

~Ray

Ya just had to go there, didn't ya.
Fine, mow your own yard, Mark won't bring the goat and the Llama is off limits for you.
We too had a great time. Next time maybe we can plan a group lunch at a show where judging isn't so critical.
