Default 700R4 no forward gears

I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that the trans has to come out.
What ever I replace the trans with will have to hold up to about 400 HP at the fly wheel if I ever add the nitrous. (build sheet HP)
Its an 84 C4 with a 96 350 and a 700r4 trans built up by a trans shop over in saint Petersburg.

I would really like to put a standard transmission in the car but I don't have the time or the money to do that right now so it looks like I'm looking for a replacement.

I have seen list prices for anywhere between $1500 to $2200 and need to stay in that ball park.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks I will call him tomorrow or the next day.
I sent a message to the guys the built the current transmission but I'm keeping my options open.
Is he a re-builder or does he have some in stock?
Regardless thanks for the help

No big chunks of metal but its full of garbage.
The fluid still doesn't smell burnt but it didn't slip just popped out of drive. I got it to shift into gear once but as soon as I came to a stop it was done.

Looks like the friction material from a clutch, the fluid is full of it and the pan has a lot of it sitting on the bottom. There are some large 1/16 of an inch chunks but nothing bigger than that. Doesn't look like the pan of a transmission with 10000 miles on it.
I wouldn't trust it without someone rebuilding it that gave me a warranty.

Take a look at what this company has to offer

http://www.jasperengines.com/index.php

I think you would have everything you want in a rebuilt trnasmission form them including a warrenty.

I have seen there engines and transmissions in rebuilds that have over 150K and run like factory originals.

I have the transmission back. Basically I broke the center hub out of all of the gears. It was a lot of damage.
Larry said it had some good parts in it but it couldn't hold up to the abuse.
He said he normally sees damage like that from neutral drops.

I told everyone that the 1 - 2 shift was like an on off switch.
It would hit so hard that it would break the tires loose.
That kind of abuse for 2 years takes its toll. He said that it wont shift like that now.
He also setup the lockup so all I need is the brake switch and a 12 volt key power for the lockup.

I should have some time tomorrow to work on it. Glad I didn't order the painless kit as I wont need it.

$700 including rebuilding the Torque converter

Well, $700 is a LOT better than $1,500 to $2,000! Hope it holds up for you and no more transmission problems while you own the car.

Well the trans has been in the car for around 90 days. It shifts well and doesn't have that on off shift into second that it had before. It is nice and crisp but not bone jarring to the point of breaking something.

I took it over to Larry and he was happy as I am with the way it drove.

I am happy with the rebuild and it was done for under $800
