Key West HAS to be in there somewhere! I was just doing a quick check
around the state to see what kind of miles we're talking. Conservatively add
another 350 miles to get to the keys and back from Ft. Lauderdale, and you're
pushing 1800 miles. If you stay on coast/secondary roads, I would guesstimate
that you would be limited to about 40 MPH overall, and that works out to 45 hours
driving time, not counting rest stops, gas stops, and meals.
Driving (on the road time) for 6 hours a day would take you about 8 straight
days to do that. Add in any time that you want to build in to view the sights,
and you go up from there. That's 7 nights lodging and 24 meals minimum!
Even with all that being said, it STILL sounds like an interesting trip.
Don't wanna kick in for the whole enchilada? Once the route and timetable is finalized,
people could join up and drop off along the way. Wanna do 3 days? No Problem!
Meet us at one of the stops and tag along as far as you want!
This is getting interesting.........!
