Default Z06

Any simple instructions for removing the face plate on the rear brake cooling ducts for painting?

I pulled this off another site when I was considering changing my to the Carbon Fiber...

I replaced my worn rear brake scoops and it is a relatively easy diy job. You may find yourself spending most of your time cleaning up parts!!

GM Part numbers for the scoops:
LH - #10322761
RH - #10322762

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Removal:

1) Jack up rear of car
2) remove rear wheels
3) remove rear wheel well liners (Eight 7mm screws)
4) pull off brake ducts

You should be able to see this:

NOTICE ON THE FOLLOWING PHOTO!!!!!!
1) the dirt
2) that farthest bolt which is the only difficult part of this job.

Remove the four 8mm nuts holding the scoop in place. You may find some of the nuts can be loosened with your fingers. After you remove the scoop you will see this:

Just a little cleanup and you're ready to install the new scoop.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install:

Partially install the new scoop so you can get your hand down to that farthest bolt to start the nut. If you seat the scoop completely, you have less room to work on that farthest bolt and you have a greater risk of dropping the nut down into the body panel (requires a strong magnet covered with a cloth placed against the body panel to pull the nut out ). Tighten the four nuts snug...

Re-attach the duct (let hang in place - no screws)

Install the wheel well liner, watch the duct that you don't dis-lodge it. Fasten with screws removed above. NOTE: the screw hole at the very top of the wheel well. This is where you should start your first screw on the liner. This hole is difficult to see and find when installing the wheel well liner.

Install wheel, tighten lugnuts

Lower rear end.

Torque lugnuts.

Awesome, no further questions, thanks much
