Bryon. Yeah the wife and I drove down through Punta Gorda back last fall. It was still "tarp city" all through there and I can't imagine what it was like right after Charley went through. Actually we caught some of Charley ourselves in Daytona Beach. We were doing a big reptile show there and after setup on Friday, we collapsed in the hotel room. We awoke to Charley breathing down our necks. The wind roaring through the open glass door overlooking the Atlantic and and building swaying in the winds (we were on the 12th floor) was enough to wake anyone up. Honestly it gave me a new appreciation of the power of a hurricane, and that was only a category 1 at that time. They are a SERIOUS force to be reckoned with. I know it's just wind and water, but until you have BEEN in one, you have no idea about how serious it really can be.
Glad you made it through alive, anyway. Did your home suffer much damage?
