Rain today

Usually May is VERY dry here too. Sometimes April thru early June we can get NO rain whatsoever until a tropical system comes into the Gulf and brings some rain with it. I would watch the weather radar at times and see all kinds of storms brush right past us on all points on the compass. Meaning we had to be watering the fruit trees in rotation every single day to keep them from dropping their fruit. Heck some years we were getting close to losing a lot of the native trees like the dogwoods because they were doing way too long without any water. A couple of times there were fires nearby and it was rather worrisome with glowing embers landing on the lawn. I was using the hose to spray all around the house and buildings, just in case, to try to keep things at least somewhat fire resistant with moisture. Not that it would have helped a whole lot, but I figured it might help at least a little. Having metal roofs on all of the buildings would be a big help against those falling burning embers, too.

But year, this year seems to be much better in that department, so at least fires shouldn't be a problem, and the fruit trees not having to be watered constantly with irrigation.

1.3" Mon.

Yeah, I watched that storm system run south of us. We got just a bare 0.07 inch of rain from it yesterday.

According to the forecast today, doesn't look like we're going to have much of a chance for any rain through the end of the month.

Looks like super hot coming soon and will dry out.

Well, we had one storm system dancing around to the south of us about 45 minutes ago, and now have one storm system to the west and another to the east of us right now. Bet we don't get a drop of rain here, though. All we will get is some thunder to listen to.

We got 0.14 inch of rain today. Looked like we were going to be more, but two nice big cells just sauntered past us to the north and south sneering. The weather radar shows we are getting rain right now, but apparently the radar is just as accurate as their forecasts are. Not getting a drop of rain, regardless of what the radar display is showing. I can hear the thunder from those two cells, just to rub it in.

Well, that was our best chance of rain in the foreseeable forecast. Better than nothing I guess, but not really enough to do much more than just tease the plants.

Wound up getting 1.68 inches of rain on Thursday (06-06). Forecast is calling for a good chance of more rain through Monday.

About time. The grass pretty much looks like it was fire damaged now that it is wet from the rain.
