    Tropical depression #19 - 2020 (Hurricane Sally)

So now, out of the blue, a tropical depression (#19) pops up right at the Florida Keys, apparently destined to develop into a hurricane and eventually hit Louisiana. Again. Subject to change without notice, of course. But I guess this IS the peak of hurricane season, isn't it?

    Tropical Storm Laura - 2020

SW Florida up the west coast and over to the panhandle should be keeping an eye on this one. The track has been inching further west each time I look at the forecast track, but this is still way far enough out that anything can happen...

    Maybe nothing...

But Ventusky (https://www.ventusky.com/?p=27.7;-84.9;5&l=rain-3h&t=20200825/0900) is showing what looks like a tropical event hitting the Atlantic coast of Florida on Tuesday 08-25-2020). So keep an eye on developments. By Thursday, could be a full blown hurricane just east of Jacksonville.

    Updated hurricare forecast for 2020

'Extremely active' hurricane season possible for Atlantic Basin Things could get dicey with the CCP Virus floating around to complicate evacuation plans.

Quite a lot of engine history...

I know this seems odd that this video is actually about a Jeep product, but the guy talks quite a bit about Corvette engines and the history of them going back to the small block Chevy days. Well worth watching if you have an interest in such things. Of course, putting such engines like the...

Everything you ever wanted to know about buckshot

Just something about shotguns I find fascinating, I guess. Some good basic info in these two videos, if such things interest you. 3haq5BFh7qs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3haq5BFh7qs Jf4i8gRTsJs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf4i8gRTsJs

    Tropical storm - June 2, 2020

Looks like a tropical storm developing in the southwest Gulf of Mexico. Doesn't look like it is destined for the center to come into Florida, but likely we will get some substantial rain out of it.

Green tree frog - jumbo sized

So the other day I was down at the shooting gazebo taking photos. I'm planning on screening it in so I can do some shooting without having mosquitoes and yellow flies biting the hell out of me, and I wanted some pics that I could look at to see how I will need to mount the screen brackets. I'm...

    Muzzle brakes for .50 BMG

I was rummaging around in one of the cabinets I have some ammo and crap stored in, and stumbled on some muzzle brakes I bought years ago for a couple of the Barrett 50 BMG rifles I have. Anyway, I was looking around on YouTube and stumbled on a video showing the difference between firing one of...

    Black water snake

Yesterday Connie came into the house all excited about a snake she saw out by one of the buildings. She wasn't sure what kind it was, so she wanted me to hurry on up and get out there to see it before it vanished. When I got out there, it wasn't where she had last seen it, but had moved about 6...

    Why I hate squirrels

So yeah, this is why I hate squirrels. This is my largest bamboo, by far, and they seem to have quite a taste for the new shoots when they come up. Matter of fact, they will actually climb up a nearby pine tree and then leap over to a 20+ foot tall shoot to chew out the top, killing it. So they...

Hawk doing varmint cleanup (viewer discretion advised)

Seems like the hawks now recognize the sound of my rifle going off as being a dinner bell for them. Used to be that the tree rats would just lay where they fell until night time, when something nocturnal would clean it up. But now, well, it seems like the carcass doesn't lay out there long at...

    Temperature swing....

So yesterday (Thursday) the high temp got up to 95.5 degrees. Today it only hit 60.8 degrees with the overnight low in the mid 40s. Glad Connie didn't change out the winter weight sheets on the bed for the summer weight ones yet.

    While killing time at home

Speaking of killing time at home while trying to ride out the virus storm, Connie and I have been cleaning up my informal shooting range area. I shoot from a gazebo we had put in a bunch of years ago, but from neglect the shooting area got way overgrown. Heck, we couldn't even see the target...

    Bear in the driveway

Had another bear passing through the property yesterday morning. This one looks rather large. Surprisingly, haven't seen any damages, as normally the bird feeders get wrecked when a bear comes by. Didn't seem to be in any hurry to head on out the driveway. BuSE9zKykLs...

    Shows vs coronavirus?

Are corvette shows still taking place or have they been canceled/postponed because of the pandemic? If not cancelled, is anyone still willing to attend them while this contagion is taking place?

    Harbor Freight shop press

Been looking at one of these shop presses from Harbor Freight for a while now, so I figured it might come in handy while working on the exhaust system on the vette. I believed the flanges on the exhaust pipe that attaches to the catback pipes were distorted from the number of times they have...

    Coronavirus infection from China

I don't know how many of you all are aware of this, but I think it might be prudent to keep an eye on developments. Could get quite serious.
