Thrashed by Consumer Reports

Just got my 2007 Buying Guide from Consumer Reports and as usual, they thrashed the Corvette again. :mad:
The last car tested was Oct. 05 so I assume it was a 2006.
They mention that the Vette delivers impressive performance, the ride is confortable and handling is capable but less agile than other sport cars.
Then they say that the '05 Corvette is a used car to avoid and their new car prediction is that it will perform much worse than average.
Man, what a review!! :shrug01:
 
I was looking for a used 05, but ended up with a 04 Z51 A4!

Really love my 04, i will wait and see what all happens with the 08 Vette.

I had an '02 A4 and loved it but the '06 6Mn I have now is much, much better. This car is GREAT!!

They (the editor) probably like Bimmers or Gag-u-ars or something like that. No biggie. That is one of the only articles I have heard of that talks down to the Corvette.

Opinions are like A$$ H...s! If Everyone ran around buying things, based on what these reports suggested, there would be no individuality! Not to mention these people are probably corrupt, wined and dinned (just like some politicians) by those wanting good reviews.:toetap05: IMO.

I guess those of you who are or were proud owners of an '06, need to go trade'em in for an '04 Vette or earlier model.? Sucks 2 b u (according to the report)!!!
I do believe Consumer reports and others like them do help to a point, but it's Hogwash (IMO) to be blinded by one report. I'm willing to bet there are others who'll say different!:thumbsup:

I wouldn't look to CR to make my decision on a Corvette, they're fine with the DD type cars. All the major car mags have given the Vette positive reviews, but like all cars, there are areas that are not as good as some other higher priced cars on the market. The '05, even GM has admitted, had some glitches with some of the technology and availability of some options as will any first year of a redesigned model.

The Corvette is what it is, one of the fasted, best handling, and best looking sports cars on the market today regardless of price. There will always be those who will criticize the Corvette either out of jealousy or elite snobbery, but mostly out of ignorance.

As far as holding it value, if you buy any new car with the idea of it's future value, you better be looking way into the future. Buy it because you want it and will drive it.

1000% correct!!!!! Wasn't CR also the magazine that said the Honda Ridgeline was the top truck of the year??? Are you kidding me? It's not even a truck and the fact that Honda and truck or in the same sentence is laughable.

All of those magazine are garbage. They have zero respect for the tradition, heritage, and history that the Corvette represents. It represents all that is good about America! Look at the garbage they worship......BMWs (Big Money Wasted) and Gag-u-ars which are Fords!!!!! Cars that only run on weekends and that a bad o2 sensor can bring to it's knees.

I don't know about you guys, but I haven't seen ANY of those aformentioned vehicles running around that are 50+ years old!!!!!!!!
 
If I need a toaster or a vacuum cleaner I will read CR. Other then that forget about it . I don't read Car & Driver or Motor Trend for tips on how to buy a washing machine either. Just my 2 cents :thumbsup:

When was the last time you saw a caravan of BMW's (Better Money Wasted) going down the highway or a parking lot with 200 to 300 of them with people drooling over them. CR can say what ever someone pays the to say, I mean say what ever they want, but he public knows what they like. :crazy03:

:iagree: i have a :crazy03: buddy that is in a 350z club and they are always crackin on corvettes.But in 10 years people will be saying a 350 WHAT?:thumbsdown:And the Corvette lives forever :thumbsup:
 
Yeah, I wouldn't know a 350Z if it fell on me. But a Corvette, no matter what year or generation, you KNOW is a Corvette.....

I've subscribed to CR for many years. I believe that they are honest & not corrupt or bribed.

Their problem is that they tend to be very conservative & timid when it comes to these kinds of reviews & also reviews involving things like herbal/natural medicines. Alot of their info is very accurate in other areas. There just not very adventurous, especially when it comes to Vettes.

Hmmmm.....why would they? There really is nothing for them to crack about. The 350Z is inferior to the Corvette in every way. Corvettes do live forever and I have to disagree with you on the Z car because the Z car is in my opinion and the opinion of many the ONE and ONLY Japanese car that has any history, any tradition, and any classic status.

However, again, it is still inferior in every way. I owned a Z car and sold it when I bought my 'vette. I had two cars to choose from to sell and it was either the Z or the Firebird and as you can see below, the Americans won.:thumbsup:
