Message Light
I had the message light "service column lock" come on the dash message system. Anyone know what this means and what needs to be done to fix it? The only thing in the owners manual is tow the car to the dealership.

Some vendors sell a CLB (column lock bypass) 50 bucks i believe. I got mine from Thunder racing or Corvettes of houston online somewhere.
I bought mine before i even bought the car cause i knew from what i read i was going to need one.
You need to be a catortionist(sp) to install it!! it's a PITA!!

I've read that the bypass may not be warranty repair anymore due to the age of the recall notice. You may be charged for the work. It may be a good investment to spend an hour and do it yourself. The other forum has a link to show you step by step how to do it yourself. Shakedown put a link to it, but here's another link from the one shakedown posted:

Good luck!

With the low miles on that Z I suggest you go to the other Forum and and do a search on common problems on the C5. The Service Column lock was just the start of many surprises on my C5 starting 10 years ago. Most are just minor PIA's.

Smart man in your household. My little tiny (wife) changes my turn signal bulbs and rear spark plugs.
