Default Radar Detectors

Just bought my 1st vette - an 07 coupe - cops are already looking it over even though I drive within the limits [as much as possible ]. What is your experience with the new Escort 9500i radar detectors? Can the power source come from the rear view mirror? any other detectors recommended? thanks.

I went through the same process as you when I was looking for radar detectors last year. I ended up purchasing the Valentine1 because it just plain works everyrime and I like the arrows alot. The Passport and Escort, etc. are good too. I would just google radar detectors and read all you can about them and then make your own decision. The Val1 can also be upgraded with new circuits and technology as the technology changes which t ome is a big plus for this company.
Google "inviscord" and you'll see how to wire into your mirror. It takes about 5 minutes to install and works very well. I use the suction cup mount for the Val1 because I'm a very tall driver and the unit is not in my line of sight. Mirror mounts and Visor mounts are good too. It's whatever floats your boat. Figure on about 8" inviscord if you use suction cup.
The Val1 has detection to all 4 quadrants-front, sides, and rear. It's saved my butt at least 4-5 times. Around town, I don't really use it because it's so sensitive to X band and will pick up the automatic doors, etc and give false alarms. You can program it out and customize what signals you want.
I hope this helps and Good luck with your search.
Oh by the way, to the Forum. I think you'll find this a very friendly helpful place and also make some new friends.

I have had a Valentine1 for six years. I love it. Has avoided a number of tickets for me.
Love the arrows plus the little lights that let you know you are getting close to the radar.

with both of these fellas. I love my Val-1 as it's saved my bacon MANY times!

I read up on quite a few radar detectors including the Passport and Escort, and came to the conclusion that the Val-1 was the one for me.

BTW...Besides the arrow indicators, they can count up to 6 bogies. This particular feature is great when there's a speed trap ahead!

I would have to agree, Seminole City hall pushes the Deputies there to write as many as possible. Especially on Park Blvd and on 113th Street. I know the traffic Deputies there and they write EVERYONE.

I have had the Beltronics Vector 995 for a few months. I LOVE IT. Works everytime and has saved me from many tickets. Worth every penny. Look it up. You can get it at a decent price too, about 300-350.
