Corvette by the numbers...again!

One who knows cars usually grew up knowing that dealerships usually tried to keep no more than a 60 day inventory/supply of new cars on their lots. Well, enter the current economic calamity we're in now (since the Great Depression). The 60 day inventory kinda became an industry standard in order to meet consumer selections and allowed for cutting prices to move any surplus. Keep this in mind while reading the next sentence.

Automotive News shows the Corvette inventory, as of January 1, 2011, at 6000 units representing a 165 day supply! On January 1, 2010, that inventory was even higher: at 178 days!! For 2010, Corvette sales were only 12,624.

GM is offering $4000 on left over 2010's while other incentives can add up to $5000 on 2011 Corvettes.

Its also being whispered in the automotive world that GM should think about accelerating, and prioritizing, the introduction of the C7. And here's why!

Chrysler is releasing the next generation Viper, with release scheduled for sometime in 2012 and as a 2013 model. Its obvious Chrysler want to draw buyers from the Corvette and Porsches.
