Corvette Racer: New to board

We have been competing in SCCA and Crane Cams V8 StockCar with our tube frame C6 Corvette for the past two years. The car was originally planned and constructed for Grand Am Rolex GT as a low cost sportsman type effort.
Construction began in 2009 and was completed in early 2011 by Woody Wood at Bemco Fab. Woody built the car in his spare time which is why it took some 24 months to complete. Originally we planned to run a few Rolex races but soon realized the cost of doing so even in a minimal effort was prohibitive.

The car is now a club racer and has competed at Daytona, Sebring, PBIR, Homestead and Roebling Road to date. It took the first four or so events to shake the car down and get it where it handled and braked properly and now works pretty well,... but with more still to do.

The car has won several times in the SCCA SPO class and in V8SC GT-2, despite being seriously down on HP to some in the class. (like 300 HP down to some).

At a later date we may go to a more modified LS2 or 3.

Overview:

* tube frame Bemco Chassis about 2500 # without driver
* Schwanke LS6 forged assembly, but near stock 420 WHP
* Nascar type G Force 4 speed tranny with road race gearing
* 9" Ford Grand National floater rear end
* 3 link rear suspension with watts link
* Penske shocks
* Brembo brakes
* CCW wheels
* ATL fuel cell
* Kirkey containment seat

Start of Sept 2012 race
along side Mike Kern's GT-1 Camaro
I finished 3rd overall behind a GT-1 Camaro and ex Scott Riggs Nascar Cup Dodge (850 hp) that was using GT-1 wheels and tires.

One of our team cars, this is a Howe/Bemco tube frame Camaro at Daytona. Powered by carb LS6 that makes about 550 at the flywheel.
Very quick, often beats GT-1 cars.
