Hurricane season - 2021

Looks like the long term forecast on ventusky.com is showing that a hurricane may possibly develop off of the western tip of Cuba around 06-15-2021 and likely head up into the Gulf of Mexico.

We haven't gotten a firm start date on our home roof replacement yet, but I would bet that when the date is decided by the roofers, that will become a hurricane magnet for this area. Or at the very least, the dry spell we are having here will end suddenly with heavy rains nearly every day. :face_palm_02:

Yeah, been right dry and toasty here as well. Our stream is pretty much dried out. Treefrogs are calling from the woods, praying for rain.

Forecast is showing low percentages of rain for the next week, but that changes every couple of hours, so obviously they are just throwing darts at post-it notes on a wall.

You did better than we did. We got a brief dump of rain around 3:45 am that only amounted to 0.04" of rain. The radar showed a real small green blob that quickly passed right over us.

Probably more of the same the next few days with just pure luck as to whether we get another small green blob passing over us.

More than likely, all this will do is just raise the humidity 1000% and not do anything at all concerning watering the plant life.

The yellow flies have gotten REAL aggressive lately. They bite just as soon as they land, so they are landing on skin teeth first.

It appears that that possible developing hurricane mentioned originally has fallen off of the forecast. But that area looks pretty disturbed, so I still wouldn't rule out something developing there late next week.

Doesn't look like much in the way of good chances of appreciable rain in my area anytime soon. But heck, I was looking at the weather radar and it showed we were getting rain right then, but a look outside showed the sun shining and no precipitation whatsoever.

We did get 0.03" more rain around 11:30 am or so, but not enough to really matter. Watering the pear trees as I write this.

Now ventusky is showing what looks like a tropical system kicking up off of the east coast of Mexico around 06-18. Subject to change, of course. But I would think that would be more of a threat to Texas than it would be for Florida.

I would just like to see some rain bands thrown our way from it.

Well that tropical disturbance off the western tip of Cuba is back again, but not until 06-17. Details are vague, of course, but any tropical storm blowing up in the Gulf of Mexico this time of year warrants keeping an eye on it if you are living in Florida.

Bring it my way. Only about a 1" of rain this month so far.

You've got me beat by quite a bit this time. We have only had 0.07" for June. Everything is so crunchy underfoot. Hope no genius nearby gets it into their head that now would be a good time to burn trash in his yard.

Looks like this is shaping up to be a rain event for much of Florida, starting in the panhandle late Friday and then the rest of the state through the early part of the following week. Doesn't look like it will reach hurricane status, fortunately.

Well, that figures. The roofers want to start on our roof on Monday 06-21 at 08:30am. According to Ventusky, we can expect rain through the weekend all the way up to Thursday from that tropical disturbance blowing up in the Gulf. So I am not sure how they are going to do the job with so much rain in the forecast. :shrug01:

Ventusky.com is showing another tropical system blowing up in the Gulf on Tuesday, 06-29. This time developing on the western edge of Cuba, much like the one they showed a couple of weeks ago.

Gee, with any "luck" I will have the new roof installed by then only to have it blown off or damaged by a falling tree during this possible hurricane coming through here. Won't that just be ducky?

I am going 100 miles offshore Thurs nite for 2 days. So i better keep a eye out. If it is the 29th then i am ok.

On the 29th it is showing the storm to be right at the western tip of Cuba. By the 30th it will be in the Gulf, but the latest forecast is showing the storm to be moving further westward and may not impact Florida directly at all. Subject to change without notice, of course.

They never come my way.

Well, not even a trace of that hurricane in the forecast now. :face_palm_02: Ventusky seems bound and determined to have a hurricane blow up sooner or later at the western tip of Cuba, though.

Another potential storm brewing, according to one of the models on Ventusky. Possibly making landfall as a hurricane around Steinhatchee, FL on Wednesday night, 07-07-2021.

But a lot can change, of course. Sure is coming close to me. Figures, having a new roof installed, so I can just see that being ripped off and tossed into the forest. There goes $24K right down the drain. :ack2:
