• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

Not In Florida Yet, But...........

Thanks to all. Just got the "final papers" on the lot we bought, so now it's really official.

LONG day at Dover yesterday. They bumped the race start back to 2:30PM instead of 1:00PM.

Race wasn't over till 6PM. Reminded me of the old Mason Dixon 500 milers that they used to run. Chuck

Chuck, glad to see you're official!

I was really surprised when I saw the start time on the race. Glad I gave up my tixs. The thing I hate, happened again in the first half of the race. Long green runs and they were down to 13 cars on the lead lap with half the race to run. Fortunately, they got some cautions and it was a pretty good finish!

Pat and I, like "Pavlov's Dogs", left at 7AM. Stopped to get subs, etc. Drove the back roads to Dover and parked at Delaware State. Were AT THE TRACK at 9:15AM. I never looked at my tix. I was used to a 1PM start.

I had 5 hours to "kill". :)

Green flag dropped at 2:30PM. Race wasn't over till about 6. Reminded me of the old Mason Dixon 500 milers years ago, when they would start at noon and still be racing at 6PM

WHAT a long day. Got home at 9:30, exhausted from the heat.

Mark Martin's crew managed to lose the race for him. Lost spots at every pit stop, left a lug nut off too. I hope he fires the bunch of them. Chuck

Man that sucks! Next year, call John A. and he'll get you some hospitality tickets. You can at least sit down for a while and have lunch on Raybestos. John used to give them to me every year. I know that you know this, but John is a super guy and if he knew that you were wondering around for 5 hours, he would have gotten you off the streets!

Rich Z: I'm a Pittsburgh, PA native. Moved to Baltimore in 1972. Our apartment was at Glenmont Apartments near Loch Raven and Taylor Avenues, not far from Parkville.

Lived there till 74 when we bought our first house in Fallston.

:) Gotta ask about your "unusual business".

Unusual? Me? Doesn't everyone breed snakes for a living?

John A doesn't do the Raybestos Hospitality tent at the "Spring" Dover anymore. Hasn't for years, SO, we were on our own. LONG day. I'm still recovering. :)

Snake breeding? Interesting!! Do you sell to pet stores?

Snakes don't bother me much. I have lots of black snakes and garter snakes around my house. Nothing poisonous like rattlers in my part of Maryland.

We do have copperheads in/around areas where there are large streams/lakes, etc. Chuck

Yeah, I lived in Fallston for a while, but never saw any copperheads there even though we had a stream out in back of the house. Plenty of black rat snakes however and the occasional milk snake.

Anyway, my snake business is at this site-> http://www.serpenco.com. I sell only via shipping via FedEx and at the couple of shows we do every year. Matter of fact we do a reptile show in Timonium every September. I get to see a lot of my old friends and eat steamed crabs from Gibbys and crab cakes at O'Bryckis!

Neat website, Rich. I checked it out.

Ah, the ol' Timmmmooooooonium Fairgrounds. Know it well.

Gibbys recently closed, I was told. Chuck

What!!!! I hope you don't mean their carryout store right on York Road. I didn't care much for the restaurant itself, so that would be no big loss to me.

Rich,

Let me know the dates in September that you will be in Timonium. Not interested in your products, but maybe we can get together for a drink or a little food? Might even be able to talk Chuck into it if the dates align right!
