tire pressure sensor

ive been waiting for them to fail, and today they finally did. the batteries im assuming have died. dic reads service tire pressure sensor system. how much are new batteries? what else will i have to do? re-sync the system? is there a way i can wait to fix it when i replace the tires, other then ignoring the dic everytime i start the car. thanks

I thought I read somewhere that the sensors didn't have replaceable batteries, that you had to replace the entire unit.... :shrug01: Even if they do have replaceable batteries, what a PITA it will be just to change batteries.... You know you might as well do them all at the same time....

There are two different types of sensors. I believe they changed the sensors in 2001. The later sensors are cheaper than the earlier sensors. When I bought my '04 Z06 CE, the one thing that I did not like was it did not have the sensors. I did not realize how much I had become used to them on my '01 vert. So, I ordered them from www.gmpartshouse.com and they cost me about $35 a piece including the nut. I do not believe that they have replaceable batteries.

After having them installed on the stock wheels, I had to have the sensors turned on in the computer. Since they can turn this feature on, I am assuming that they can turn this feature off as well until you get new sensors.

Good luck.

Rich

They can be turned off in 2000 year model and above!!

Changing batteries is a pain, have to remove the wax sealer & the old ones are spot welded to the contacts, not soldered. If like mentioned above you have the newer style C5 ones (2000-2004) they are cheap enough to buy new. We have 3 in stock so if you are Greg's customer just let him know & he can get them for you.

That man is no customer he is our best Irish buddy:lmao:!!!
I thank this site for that.

Dont DYI this one Eric!!
Greg agrees with Tracy, The battery thing is not worth the trouble, Think F-Body window motor, or changing your own clutch on jackstands in the driveway (I did that twice, learned my lesson)
