Tragedy on I-4...

THOR

New member
Wow, that's quite the pile up this morning on I-4. 70 car pile up, at least 4 deaths and several injured, and I-4 closed until they straighten it out. I don't know what it is about I-4 but it seems to be a no man's land and death knocking on the door for those that brave this interstate. My prayers and thoughts are with the victims and families of this horrific tragedy this morning.

I was reading about this on the web site for the local paper. Seems that smoke from a fire and fog may have been a factor.

Prayers go to the families of the lost and injured.

As I just posted in another thread. The area that the pile up occurred in is not far away. Heard all the stuff this morning. I was appraised by a friend who works at the state prison in Polk City of the fire last night. Apparently the smoke combined with fog set the stage for a real mess.

I remember working that area under similar conditions and it was ZERO visability, down right ugly.

Sorry for those victims. Glad none of my forum friends or their families were involved.

Saw the news coverage this evening and the aerial view was unbelievabel...That stuff was the most dense that I have seen in a long time...Our thoughts are with those that were involved...Be safe out there...

Route 4 can be bad on a good day.Elders in Buick ,kids in ricers ,A bunch of big riggs ,throw in fog and smoke. May God be with those involved.

Drive safely, everyone. And if that doesn't help, hope for a huge helping of luck to see you through....

A week ago Saturday night I was driving all the way down from Georgia to south Florida on I-75. It was very foggy and I could hardly see doing about 50-60 mph. Lots of people including big trucks were flying by me going at least 80. I like driving fast but sometimes you need to slow down.

Gary's right. I can recall trucks and cars passing me in heavy fog on 75 several years ago??? Doesn't make sense:(

I have a close friend, the one who's 50th birthday I attended on New Years Eve, who works for Hospice in Lakeland. She lives in Lutz and makes that trek daily along I-4.

She was supposed to meet a co-worker early yesterday morning at the site in Lakeland. She checked the Wx. report as she routinely does, and called the co-worker and asked to change the location to Tampa. The co-worker agreed...all are in 1 piece now:thumbsup:

Devine intervention?

Good fortune?

Karma?

Beats the hell outta me but whatever:thumbsup:

Glad all here are so far accounted for:thumbsup:

Please stay safe out there....

I hate driving on I-4. Fortunately I don't have to very often.

I agree totally. My daughter's dance team from high school has a national dance competition in three weeks At MGM. I hate the thought of travelling I-4 especially with 18 dancers' lives on the line.

Whats the deal on the State troopers giving out tickets for the accidents ? Didn't the state authorize the burn that got out of control? Some one feel free to straighten me out.
