I brought up this site at our meeting tonight. Our pres said for you to drop him a line. You can reach him at the link I posted earlier. I don't know how much participation we'll get (based on previous internet based sites) but we won't know till we try, right?

I sent him the invitation the same day or the next after you posted the link. Does this mean he never got it?

Well, I don't know how to answer that...it didn't seem he had not heard of this site when I brought it up. :shrug01: I can send him the link and see what happens.

Anything is possible I guess. Email isn't the most reliable delivery system I have ever seen.....

Wow, I should re-read my posts and check for proper grammar before I hit the send button.......sorry

I think I have enabled editing for all registered members, so you should be able to correct such oversights. Let me know if that is not the case. I meant to do that, if it is not enabled.

Well honestly, the results from my invitations was extremely underwhelming. Well I thought this was a good idea, but apparently they all disagreed.

Way it goes, I guess. I suppose the way to go about this is by going to the members direct rather then the club brass. So I need you all to help me spread the word about this site.

Speading the word!

Here's another name you can add to your list of Florida Corvette clubs: CORVETTES ON THE GULF (Ft. Myers/Cape Coral). Our website address is: www.corvettesonthegulf.com where info may be obtained for officer contacts, meeting location, membership application, etc.

I guess my thoughts on this site being a central meeting place for the various Corvette clubs around the state wasn't as well received as I had hoped they would be. The invite is still open, however........

Thanks.

It takes time

Don't get discouraged. All great things take some time to get off the ground. Lets all start putting events and things to do here. After a while the word WILL get out. Mort, Citrus County Corvette Club

Jacksonville Corvette Club Meeting change for August

:welcome:

The next meeting will be on the 5th of August (Saturday) and not on August 3, 2006 or the first Thursday as normal. This is because the club is going to do a cruise to Ocala, Florida. See information below

The club voted to change the August meeting schedule to accommodate a trip to Ocala on Sat. August 5th as our Social meeting for the month.

Details are:

Plan to leave from the Target Parking lot on 220 no later than 8 a.m. - be there by 7:30.

Some may want to meet earlier for breakfast at the Orange Park Cracker Barrel - optional

Will get to Ocala and the National Part Depot around 10:00. Ron Davis has a scenic route mapped out for us. Bring radios - Channel 7.

After the tour of the cars we will find a place nearby for lunch.

Then - optional - will go to the Don Garlits Museum - Ron has negotiated a group rate - 10.00 (usually 12.00) or 8.00 for Seniors (usually 10.00)

Then a scenic peaceful ride home - back in Jax around 7.

YOU MUST SIGN UP - ( If you wish to go, just send me a PM) so, since we do not have a meeting between now and then if you HAVE NOT already signed up and ARE going - please let me know by return e-mail ASAP so I can tell Ron Davis.

The third Thursday of the month will be our Business meeting - August 17 - Whitey's Fish Camp.

Thanks

Tell us about the National Parts Depot. What is it? The tour is to see what? Could Citrus County Corvettes get a tour?
Mort

I will see what I can find out and who to contact and post it. From what I understand they have a very nice collection of restored auto's of different makes, and this is what we will be touring.l

I called the 1-800 number below for,

NPD Florida
900 S.W. 38th Ave
Ocala, Fl 34474
1-352-861-8700
1-800-874-7595

The owners have an extensive private collection of around 125 collector automobiles, an example given to me was a 1946 Buick with only 400 miles on it.

To arrange a tour for your club call the 1-800 number and they will connect you with the corporate vice-president in charge, I believe they said his name was Rick and he will get it set up. You will need to know the number of members who will be attending.

If you need more information just call the 1-800 number above.:wavey:
