Sound Insulation

Well, I finally did it. Installed insulation on the entire floorpan from firewall to rear bumper-including the area behind the seats. WOW!! I had a local, family owned shop do it. They used Stinger Expert Roadkill which I'm told, is regularly used in the stereo industry. It is fairly "dense", has silver foill on one side and self stick adhesive on the other. He purchased a box-which consists of (9) 18"x32" sheets=36 Sq. Ft. Identified as RKX36B. Was able to do everything but the extreme bottom of the center well in the trunk. Impression: Actually a bit surprised at first? But once I got on I-95 it hit home. No more tire/road noise. Actually hear the wind around the A pillars and windows now, at speed. Not a Lexus (and don't want that) but the car also feels much tighter--which you feel in around town driving also. Overall a great investmen--and--why did I wait so long??!! Now for the tire pressure sensors. Look at <www.stingerelectronics.com> BTW, my guy said the box cost him about $250. :dancer01:

He added $250 for labor for a total of $500. If I had a garage I would have done it myself. Worth every penny.:dancer01:

I have a garage but would be hesitant to tear the car apart and later end up with alot of extra parts...

Nice. I've used Dynamat before on previous cars to help insulate the stereo sound and get rid of the road noise. That is really a great deal costwise to do the whole car.

I have a wind noise problem on my Z right now. I need to adjust those "things" that hold the window in place.

I guess I'm just weird, but I LOVE the sound of the heart of the beast. I won't even turn on the radio because I don't want it to infringe on the sound of the CAR.

I don't listen to the radio a whole lot anymore. If I do, it's just barely audible.

It is not weird. I feel same way.

I've debated about putting better speakers in my car. I had a small box with 2 10 inch speakers in my C4, but the exhaust was crazy loud and balzy on it. This Z06 is more subtle so it requires a few more pushes on the "loud pedal".:hehehe:

Except for gas prices its a wonderful pedal!

I love the sound also--now I hear more of the "important" mechanical sounds rather than reverberations and so on. Did not remove the inner fenders but covered every square inch of the rear floor and wheel tubs.:dancer01:
