• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

Sounds like a good time for vette owners

BM, where the hell did you find this post?

First let me give you a little background information. This is a morning talk show that is broadcast in Baltimore. One of the Corvette interviewees is Chuck Gongloff, who posts on this site as ChuckG (I think). Chuck just built a new home in an area called Pine Ridge (I think), anyway, north of Tampa. This club is the Mason-Dixon Chapter of the NCRS, Yes, I said NCRS! Most people think that NCRS means that you don't drive the Vette.

Well, this Vintage Thunder event has been going on for 17 years or so, and in fact, I raced my '69 at this event probably for the first 7 or 8 years it was held. What a blast! It is an absolute great day and it was just held this past Saturday if I remember correctly. I will have to send ChuckG a PM so that he knows that BM found this interview and posted it on our site!

Thanks BM!

:) Yep, that was me. The make-up crew made me look MUCH older for the TV spot, as they wanted a "mature" individual.

I've been the event director of Vintage Thunder for many years. Always a lot of fun. Rich427 is one of my buddies, and he has raced his 69BB at VT on several occasions before he headed South.

Usually we get 100-120 Corvette racers, but this year the attendance was way down. We had 75 cars and 80 racers. :nonod:

Why? The economy, gas prices, the HEAT, plus a lot of competing events in the area.

Spoke with the guys at Cecil County Dragway. These are the professional guys who actually run our event. They told me that their Wednesday and Friday night "test and tune" attendance is down by a whopping 40% this year.

So, I guess our 25% drop wasn't too bad. I ran the 69. Couldn't hook up. That car usually runs high 13.8's to 13.9's. Best I could do was 14.20.

Entered the eliminations, only because my 2 grandchildren wanted to see "grandpa" race. Won 3 rounds. In the elimination round, I lost by a few thousandths. Just as well that I lost. Wouldn't look "right" for the Event Director to be a Class Winner. :)
