I cut the Satsuma down last weekend. And the Kumquat. The Kumquat looked like it may have been ok but it was planted directly under the electric line that feeds the house and was only about 3 feet from touching it and no one seemed to care for them anyway.
The Lemon Tree amazes me! Looking better than ever, 17 degrees made most of it's leaves to fall off but it's green and full of blooms now. I had read that the Satsuma was supposed to be the hardiest of this bunch but it's leaves just turned black. And no sign of life after that.
The Peaches, Pear and Plums are all blooming and we planted a couple of Cherry Trees yesterday. We'll see how that goes. I love Cherries!

Only one of our four satsumas have any new leaf growth on them. So the other three might be history.
I guess by the end of this month we will be lopping off a lot of dead wood from the citrus trees.
If we get another spell of cold like that this next Winter, I imagine just about all of the citrus will get killed off.
The youngest pumelo tree that we have, and which I was thinking was big enough to where it might produce fruit this year, as a really strange manifestation on it. Looks like hair growing out of the trunk and some branches. No telling what this is, but I am guessing it isn't a good thing.

1.75 inches of rain on Sunday. Appears there is more on the way overnight and maybe into Monday.
We needed this!

Wound up getting 2.19 inches as of right now. Doesn't look like any more showing on the weather radar.

Well, we were supposed to get some pretty strong storms overnight with substantial rain involved. Yeah right. We got 0.11" all total scattered over several hours. There was a pretty strong front heading our way, but I guess the usual Spring "rainfall avoidance" system here has kicked in early. The front just separated west of us, with all the storms going north and south of us. Seen this happen time and time again, and I just cannot figure out what sort of geographical features in this area would cause such an effect.

Well, we got 0.63 inch of rain today. Kind of light rain all day long.
