After i purchased the new set of tires (goodyear eagle F1 GSD3s) took it to the Sears and had an alingnment ..and i noticed that the car was pulling right(slightly but it was still there) ,took the car back and asked them about that ,they told me they did the alignment properly but i wasn't convinced so i 've got full refund and took my car to the local chevy dealership ..service guy looked at the print out told me the alignment is fine ,took the car out for a test drive and said "car is slighlty moving to the right , it might be road crown .. i wouldn't bother" .. he also told me that he had a mustang and his car is doing the same thing ..is that really normal? the reason i'm asking you is b/c i drove the wife's car (subaru impreza)on the same exact road and it seemed like it was going straight unlike my Z...is it because i got wider tires and it makes that road crown pull more obvious?then again it's not pulling like crazy but it's so annoying..thanks in advance

There are several things tha can make a car pull,and it still be within spec's!! Crown of the road can,as so can a bad tire,air pressure and other factors!!But the biggest thing I've found is Lazy alignment men or non experienced technicians that don't really know or understand what the hell their doing!!!!I call them Toe and Go Artists!!:thumbsup:Post your year of vehicle, tire pressure of each tire and the read out so I can look at it and see what things look like,maybe I can help,I assume it's a Corvette!! I've had to shift suspension cradles and other components to get a good alignment!! Most alignment guys just won't go the extra mile because there paid by production and not by the hour!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

PS I'm a Experienced Frame and Alignment Technician with over 30+ years!!:thumbsup:

I have a lot of issues with Road Crown in both my vette and my lowered truck. Especially in Pinellas County (Belcher is one of the worst)! I'd certainly post your alignment read out for gmjunkie to take a look at.

I know of a great shop on 66th street that comes highly recommended for vettes. They charge by the hour, my alignment was around $175, but it's worth it to me to make sure my alignment is correct.

GM JUNKIE GOT IT . AGAIN CHECK TIRE PRESSURE A TIRE CAN LOOK GOOD AND WONT HAVE ENOUGH PRESSURE ON IT AND CHECK IT WHEN IS COLD :banghead::banghead: HATE WHEN A CAR PULLED ALSO SOMETIME IS NOT VISISBLE BUT A TIRE CAN BE MORE WORN OUT THAN THE OTHERS . JACK IT UP AND SPIN THE TIRES TO SEE IF YOU SEE ANY DIFERENCE ALSO PENNY CHECK ON THE TIRE LEFT ,CENTER , RIGHT SIDES OF THE TIRES .

The GY GS D3s are great tires. I put them on my '01 vert and took off the runcraps. What a difference. When the GY Supercars are ready to replace on my Z06, I will probably replace them with the D3s as well. Good luck with your alignment issues.

go with GMJUNKIE

We have had TONS of cars come in after getting an alignment done at a dealer and it "just not feel right" to the owner. And we still have them come in to this day.

It is always best to take it to a Corvette specialist , you can tell a BIG difference when it is done properly.
It may cost a little more but it is well worth it!!

There are MANY things it could be and GMJUNKIE is right about most of them not caring !!!

Good luck!! I am sure GMJUNKIE will be able to fix you up.`:thumbsup:

hi i've got an 03 Z06 , i set my tire pressures based on factorys specs(33psi all around)..and yes i checked my tires pressures and they're fine..i forgot to mention that i took my car to 3 different places with the print-out in my hand (sears alignment) and they said alignment looks fine .i don't know maybe they were just lazy, also asked some performance alignment shop and quoted $250 (?) for 4 wheel alignment ...and he mentioned that the car might still pull right after the alignment so i basically couldn't sacrifice my $250 to get a better alignment but still have to deal with that annoying thing ..thanks for the input

Well he ain't No Alignment man then!!:nonod::nonod:(Classic to cover ones A$$ if they find that things need shifted!! They want Easy $$ not what they have to work for!:NoNo:)If it pulls somethings not right!!Granted the road can have something to do with it,But if you have a light constant right pull,Either you have a bad tire or the car isn't set up right!!:thumbsup:It happens that sometimes a New Tire is bad but I'd bet on the alignment!:thumbsup::thumbsup:I'd like to see the print out. Please:D:D

:) that's what the sears guy told me i took it to the goodyear store to see if anything is wrong with the tires (wanted to use goodyear warranty) and they said there shouldn't be a problem with tire ..maybe they were just lazy and i ordered the part from tirerack so they didn't wanna help me out since i didn't buy my tires from them..i was so sick to go to the sears and go back to the goodyear store..i looked at my garage and couldn't find the print out i think i lost it :mad: ..pfff

Hey what about your rims ,did you buy them with the tires ??? a defective rim could cause it also . :banghead::banghead:

nope ,they're oem Z06 wheels that came with car.. there's no visual damage other than some scratches ..i believe if it was the rims ,it'd be more obvious (vibration and pulling ) however there's no vibration it's just drifting to right (slightly)

i found my print out , lol ..i had to look everywhere to find damn thing :D

so here it is

FRONT
Caster Left = 6.9
Right = 7.1

Camber Left = -0.9
Right = -0.8

Toe Left = 0.04
Right = 0.03
total toe=0.07

REAR
Camber Left = -0.5
Right = -0.6

Toe Left = -0.01
Right = 0.02
Total toe= 0.01

Thrust Angle = -0.01

what do you think?

This is what I would do.....

From your numbers the split in the caster looks to be your pull problem.

Chris is an old circle track racer and he says that they use to run the caster split like that. He would run more positive caster in the right front than in the left and it would cause the car to pull to the left which made the car easier to turn on a circle track .

See if you can get them to equalize the caster in each side and that should fix your problem. They need to get that thrust angle to 0.00.

If you want to make the car feel more responsive run 0 toe in the front and a 1/16 toed in the rear end.

Just my humble opinion :)

actually my car pulls to right not left :)
and
another thing to mention i got 275 /40/17 s front tires unlike factory specs 265s (gs d3 only comes on that size) would that effect anything? it'd be nice to drive a more responsive car btw , for some reason steering feelse kinda numb maybe it's b/c my older car was an Subaru STI..i dunno

Oh dang..

Sorry ,I sure ran my mouth and didnt realize I was reading it wrong...:banghead:

Regardless you should never have a split it should always be dead even.

The car could be crabbing(when the back tires are not tracking right)
down the road and the act of correcting this would be to put input into the steering wheel which could be interpreted as the pulling effect.

I purdy much agree!! It needs a little more caster on the right front!!I'd get rid of some of the negative camber too,It's almost at the limit on the front!!(It will be hard on the inside of the front tires!!) I run 0*camber all the way around with 6*+ Caster Lt Front,6.4*+ Caster Rt Front,1/32-1/6 toe in, with 1/64 Rear toe in on my 03 Z-51!!
And I run 6.7*+ Caster Lt Front,7.2*+ Caster Rt Front with .1*- Camber all the way around, with 1/16 Toe in Front,1/32 Toe in Rear on my 01 Z06!! Both cars sail down the road Striate!!!:thumbsup: I have my Z-51 set up a little different because it's mostly my over the road car and it makes it allot easier on tires and easier to steer in traffic,But a bit of a Hand Full above 135-140 MPH!!:thumbsup: The Z06 is my Mountain Twisties car so I have it a little tighter!!:crazy03::crazy03::thumbsup:

so what shoud i do ? where should i take my car to? any opinions ?gmjunkie where do you live ? would you pm me your adress and info ..thanks
