Report on 3M Clear Bra

THOR

New member
Hi y'all, Yes I know, I haven't put my pics of my new MR vert yet on the Forum after returning from the NCM over a week ago. I was waiting to get my Clear Bra put on and then give you a report. The 3M Bra was put on two days ago by Ryan of Auto Paint Guard (Tampa area). This is some awesome stuff and strong too! I had the front bumper, half the hood, side mirrors, lower rocker panels, front headlights, and some added bra material to the recess area where you open the car door. It is almost invisible and carries a 5 year warranty.
I spoke at length with Ryan about this website and I think he is seriously considering being a Forum sponsor.
If you are considering this product, the most important thing is the installer. It could be really easy to do these bra installs badly. So really talk to your installer and make sure they have done numerous corvettes. If you can't find someone, contact me and I will help the best I can.
I promise that I will send my pics very soon. Now that the weather is sunny again, I should be able to get some great pics. Bye now, Mark :wavey: :wavey:

Hey! I know that guy.

He does excellent work. I had my C6 done by someone else and thought it was the best that could be done as they did my Lightning and did a pretty good job.

I had Ryan do my 335i and the job was amazing. He used the Venture film on that and it is 100% perfect.

He will be redoing my C6 soon.

TyZToy,

Is there anyway that you could put me in touch with Ryan. I had a 3M Clear Bra in stalled on my C6 and I am not thrilled with part of the install.

Thanks

Thanks guys for the comments! :dancer01:

My info is below. I'll get that corvette pefect for you! It's black right? If so I wouldn't use 3M on that one, probably Avery or Venture film for sure.

There are also different patterns out now that literally cover every inch of the bumper with wrapped edges. I have to admit it is pricey, even more than the Xpel kit.

Thanks

Ryan

Ryan came by last week and replaced one of the side mirror 3M material that had wrinkled on original install. I like and trust him because he really cares about quality and has the utmost integrity to make you happy. Thanks again Ryan. You are welcome anytime. Mark:dancer01: :wavey:

How does this stuff look on a black car? Are there any noticeable lines?
I've been SERIOUSLY considering a Bra, but if this Clear Bra stuff is better and or virtually unnoticeable:hmm: .... I WILL make a trip south with both Vettes!

I couldn't help myself...I just had to post a pic!:D

Well,
You can look at it 2 ways. How would your car look with chips on the nose, hood of a Black car vs. a slight line that is only visible if you look for it?

It's worth it.

Exactly TyZtoy....

That's why i've decided on the bra, but now i'm torn between it (bra) and the clear bra. I'm living with a few minor imperfections now:banghead: , which has lead me to my decision of getting either or.
Thanks for your input!:wavey:

I'm with you Brother!... Well here's my experience with both.

Bra:
** A Bra can and will cause damage to your paint regardless of what anyone will tell you! Anything flapping in the wind for a period of time will leave a mark. There is no bra that I am aware of that does not "Flap" over time. It does not take much.

** If it gets wet and you do not remove it, it will cause your paint to fade

** If dirt gets behind the bra it will scratch your paint.

** How do you properly clean the under sides of a bra??? Hmmmm...

** The pain of having to put it on and take it off, store it, clean it, etc.

** Unless it matches the body color and even that is not a perfect match, some look like crap

CLEAR BRA:
** Easy to store.. do not have to remove it

** You can barely see it and will only notice it if you look for it. You can enjoy your car the way you brought it.

** It gets cleaned and waxed while cleaning your car, no extra efforts

** No worries about water

** Cost a lot more but will last a long time

** The best part! You can drive your car and not worry about those nasty rock chips!!

Great post Ty! Thanks. The best part is just wash and wax over the film like normal.

Up until recently I hated doing black cars especially vettes with 3M film. Now since there are new films out, such as Avery and Venture clear coats, I love doing black now. If done correctly it is probably the best color for the film since you do not see any shadows of the lines (mainly across the hood).

I have black car pics available but you won't see anyting in the photo.

If you have questions let me know.

Ynkedad. I actually know weirsdale is. :) I had friends that lived there while I lived in Ocala.

Hey Ray, Trust Ryan on this. He is the MAN to go to. I can't recommend him highly enough. You will not regret it or I'll eat my goat.:lmao:

My goat is really getting popular. I can rent him out if you guys are really desperate. Sheep might be cheaper!:lmao: :lmao:
